Hello growers. Here's my last harvest for 2008. I started 12 plants from seed from some better than average commercial I bought in August. All 12 seeds popped and here's what they look like after the first week.
Two weeks.
Here's the first transplant to a larger pot: 15 days from sprout.
Here's a shot around 2 weeks into 12/12. Although I started with 12 plants, (not all showing in this photo) 8 of them would end up being male.
Here are the final four plants to make the cut. As you can see I've bent these plants over because of their stretch. These plants averaged 4x stretch.
The following are from week 4 through 7.
Week 8.
The plant with the red fans had the best lower growth (suitable for reveg) so I harvested early at about 60 days. The remaining three plants would be chopped at week 9, week 11 and week 12.

[grower's note] I vegged these plants between 2 and 4 weeks so their progress is estimated in the photos. I didn't feel like buying new CFLs this grow. As a result, I used two cools and one warm. Then I read several posts about male/female ratios. According to what I read, red light used in veg produces more males. Also, the third to fourth week n veg is the period that influences these ratios. Several of these plants were already in flower during these weeks (red light.) I've never really payed that much attention to veg periods. I paid for that this time with twice as many males as females.
The grow I'm currently on was vegged for 4 full weeks under new cool CFLs. I made sure these plants had higher nitrogen than phosphorus (especially during weeks 3 & 4.) I'm happy to report 100% females. I know this probably won't happen every time but I'm sure the techniques described in the male/female ratio posts are worth following. peace
