Having trouble with my cloner 33 gallon tub petco mag 300 pump 12 ezclone misters (red)ro water, power clone solution, h202 I'm on day9 see 1 out of 66 with root bumps am I just being impatient? How fine does the spray mist need to be? Just put on a 30/30 on-off timer going to get a 15/15 today. Some starting to turn yellow. First time cloner any imput?

IMHO - You don't need the Power Clone soultion or the H2O2, just plain water.

A 300gph into 12 misters is going to give you a nice fine mist, so no worries there.

If you can drop your temps just a degree or two, that may help.

And beyond everything else..... the most common thing that either slows things down or halts them all together is an unclean set-up with bacteria brewing in the works somewhere. Did you totally flush out your system with bleach or strong H202 prior to introducing the cuttings? Even inside the pump and pipes? If not, I'd first look there for a cause.

I say you leave the solutions out. Ive said it many times in this thread, plain h-20 works... dont add any junk (its a waste).

also, did you cut the clones from the plants correctly?

Oh yea Tempe steady at 75

LOWER THEM TEMPS IF YOU CAN.
the good timers that are 1 min on / 5 min off keep the right amount of time for air time without drying the roots too much. The biggest thing is it keeps the pump from running so much making heat = pathogens.
roots like it colder than the plant.
example
dig a hole in the ground, feel the temp, its much cooler than the air above in nature. you want to replicate that as much as possible.
roots love it in the mid 60's F.
I havent lost a clone yet due to the timer and cooler temps.
I dont even change my res as often as I should. sometimes a month goes by easy with no change of res water.
and I use plain ol well water with no additives
roots from 4-14 days depending on strain.
hope this helps
peace

Yay... Got roots and almost all have bumps day 11 guess I was just freeking out for no reason cause it didn't happen quicker all these people with thief 3-7 day roots. I have seen the ezclone in action and my homemade doesn't have as fine of a mist as the ezclone. But i did use a 33 gallon tub so i could have more pvc which wpuld lower the pressure? My friend has one he gonna let me use it wanna do some side by side comparision of the two to see if different things like timer, rooting horm, or fine must make any difference. Keep you guys updated.

I know this is super old but you can get the same misters and other types from Home Depot or Lowes. The brand is Mr.Mister or something like that. I just happened to find some these cool misters at Walmart that are like 3 inch long flexable 120 micron misters that are bad ass. I have just always had problems with pathogens and temps due to lack of time going back and forth to the hospital but reading this OLD thread made me want to break out my DIY Aero cloner (very similar to this one) and clone this SD V3 I have because I am NOW CANCER FREE! YOO HOO! Sorry, just glad to be alive!

thanks folks, glad it's helpin.

cheers Sinful, yeah people complain of the heat of the large pumps in the ez cloner 60... just buy the 350gph model 3 pump (petsmart.com $35) and it'll run the 60 perfect temp... and just build your own 120 site with the pump you have from the old 60! it's the same one in the 60 and 120 do just build your own pvc in a huge tub, get the misters and neoprenes and save $300. best o luck buddy, lemme know if i can help anymore anytime man

hehe wags you know it, the rubbermaids toughnecks have a nice tall lip, so the lids close over and there's no leaking at all :)

so bonzo snag a rubbermaid or somethin! hehe oh an benrock, these are the Mister 320 sprayers, 320 degree misters once suggested by lothar for aero tubes, got them at betterthannature.com. any 300 degree or more mister is gonna be what you want.

high ocanabis, nice one ya got there, yeah be careful with the aquarium heaters they can heat up quite a bit too much too quick... i like your sprayers, those are the rotating head ones, definitely good for small spaces and just a few clones... i'm tryina replicate a biggun here, but thanks for showin up a small system!

psuedo since you're wondering, i only had 10 netpots, so instead of waiting i used the hot glue technique... and i had used a 2 1/8" holesaw on a lid, too big, so 2" holesaw, still too big unless netpot or hot glue... so that's why i didn't get another holesaw to do 1.75" holes!

.canine. a bit more work than a bubbler faux-aero but so worth it. bubblers are too wet stems, stem submerged or not? picky temps, bad coverage, etc... very hard for pathogens to start in aero. i did get lucky once of 5 times with bubbling and got roots in 5 days... it is a bit more than just bubbler system, the most savings come from doing it large scale as the big ezcloners cost so much! i have 2 bubblers if ya want them though! ;p

hey kokua thanks for the idea, you're not the first to suggest it, so it must be a nice trick, i'll definitely cut the bottom half off of the 2" netpots i have, the roots are already all through them though... i may go to all that method if i get to the store, BGGDW did the same and so did others, ya guys are way ahead of me, so thanks for sharin the tip i'll add it in :)

peace n green thumbs as always folks :joint:

Well seem to be getting some roots I think my problem is the pump not spraying fine enough mist as I have a 33 gallon tub plus I made the manifold small because before it was touching the side of the bin and spraying into the side like 1/4 inch away rebuilt it smaller and better with a sunleaves 525 gph pump the cloner looks 100 times better!
Well after all the defenition of aero is plants suspended in air sprayed with a FINE mist..
We will see If it works better. There rooting with the old setup by only 8-10 out of 65 I think eventually they will all root using the old one just take a while it's been 14 days looking for improvement

I've been doing a ton of cuts lately and considered aero cloning again. I used to run 4 120s and their a pain in the ass because of the internal pump. I think I have the answer.
I have a 70 gallon black ABS grotek res. A TNC external pump from an old aeroflo ii shop display, 1/2" plumbing up the kazoo. The res has lips for a cover 31x31". I cut 16x16 2" holes spaced 1" apart on a 1/4" ABS piece Ill buy locally cut to size plumb my tnc through it to a manifold 24x24 w 360 sprayers every 6 inches. Now I have a machine that does 256
cuts, without the heat issue. Best news is I have 2 of these res's. Pics soon!
Bigtokes, this thread is awesome, man! Everyone has really done a lot of brainstorming, and if I can use what I already have and spend about as much as you guys are on the tupperware one, I'm stoked! just hope I don't blow the sprayers out of threads at 1000+gph!

Hey king ralph, does your pump have a threaded outlet? i went to home depot and noticed all the female adaptors are threaded and my pump outlet is not. How to you get the 1/2" connector to fit tightly on the pump outlet? did you glue and then seal with silicone?

If your water pump doesn't have threads, you can use one of the quick-connect 1/2" fittings to connect some polytube to the pvc. Male or female depends on how you thread the manifold together.

There are also threaded barbs.

I actually shortened my main tube to move it further away. This way the stems were getting a finer mist and the underside of the lid was much less wet which reduced my leaking.

Hey bro, what size tote are you working with there and how far from the top does the manifold sit? Does it actually spray out of the tote when you have the lid off?

The tote is 12 gallons.
The manifold is 6.5 to 7 inches below th e bottom of the pucks.
When open, only a gentle mist sprays out the top.
