will my plants veg too large before i can move them out?

was planning on giving my plants a 6-8 week veg before i put them outside. start vegging april 1st, put outside may 25th...my questions:

i know its a very broad question as strains differ (strains in question are mostly early indica hybrids) as does lighting, but how big do you think my plants will get for 6-8 weeks under t5's for about 2 weeks and then a 1k HID light for another 6? my concern is that i will run out of space... i could do my originally projected # of plants for that period of time if i keep the containers small, but they would probably get root bound.

either that i could just veg for a shorter amount of time, but i really wanted them to preflower (5-6 weeks of veg maybe?) before i moved them outside to save 50% of the labour. didnt have time to grow a mother this year so had to start from reg seeds unfortunately.

you should be ok with veging. if height is a problem then you can train them.
as for you starting seed plants, to save your labour, you need to sex them, flip them to 12/12 and then u can throw males that show in under a week (providing plant size is around 1ft), then go back to 24/0. ofc that means you could have some clones.... :D

Don't veg them for that long I would say 30 days max, but to be honest 2 weeks just to get them started is enough, once your taking plants out in 1 gallon pots your making to much extra work for yourself for no reason, longer you veg them indoors the more woody the stems gonna be and the less vegging growth your gonna see outside, it can be counter productive.

that makes sense antimatter. i guess if i dont veg em for that long my labour of hauling potential males out and planting and watering them for a few weeks isnt so bad considering how small they'd be compared to 1 and 1.5 footers. ill be creating a grow journal to keep you all updated on how it went.

smokey, i would do the 12/12 switch and then reveg but i dont want to shock my plants, as well as the fact that im vegging under 16/8 to match the outside conditions when i outplant. going from 12/12 to 24/0 after sexing and then 16/8 outside would totally stress the shit out of my plants

Just know that taking most strains from a 24/0 environment to an outside light environment with even 16/8 hours of light will shock your plants into flower. They will then want to revert back and then you lose outside veg time as well.
