What's new

Homebox tent user?

thats a sick ass setup mashup!! how many plants u got going? any harvest yet? i cant seem to find any post about the growlab tent completing a full run yet. These tents are still fairly new but i would love to see some pics of what this tent is capable of doing. So far i've seen numerous threads of harvest pics from the homebox but man the more i look at the growlab the more it grows on me. Very nice!

that comment is good enough for me! how long was the wait time before u receive your growlab tent from BGhydro? i just checked the site out and they have both of the sizes i want. I remember reading on the grow tent thread that BChydro customer service is terrible right now and u have to wait over a month or so just to get your product?

I just got a homebox xl from bghydro. Took 6 days and I'm on the other side of the country. No complaints.

Mashup, I have to respectfully disagree with your take on the Growlab tents.

In your own thread, you said the interior material came apart from the outside material when creased, making bubbles, and that a corner broke when you set one up. You're not the only one who had complaints either. People on another site called the front windows "gimmicky" and indicate they leak light, moreso than an easily fixed pinhole.

Also, you cannot "slightly see through the Secret Jardin/Dark Rooms at night" as you say. I have an old model 4x4 and a 2008 model 5x5 and run 1k in them, and in my experience what you say is just not the case. Other respected members have indicated their experience is the same. The Darkroom reflective material is just as opaque as any other tent.

Perhaps with the budget "street" version what you say is true, but that is not fair to say is the case for all Darkroom tents.

The zippers in a 2008 model Darkroom tent do not "glow" either, as they added double flaps behind the zippers to address those complaints. Even the old model zipper just has a dot of light here and there with a 1k blasting inside, not glowing or anything close. If the zippers in a Growlab tent glow, as your comments indicate, it is because they lack double flaps.

I really don't see anything about the Growlab tent that is better than a 2008 model Darkroom tent. Combine that with the major issues you brought up yourself, and I don't see any reason to recommend Growlab - I actually see reason to avoid Growlab until it is clear they have upgraded the corners and fixed the canvas problem. You said a 2.0 version is coming soon, so hopefully they will address the problems, but I must recommend my peers avoid Growlab until then.

Yeah, I was totally spouting off bullshit about my personal satisfaction. Thank you so much for respectfully correcting me.

I've ran them all and am not repeating hearsay. My Darkroom wasn't the street model either. Shit glows in a pitch black room no doubt.

My opinion is that the GrowLab tents are the best on the market, you're free to disagree.

Best of luck, stay green and puff tuff.

This is what's coming soon:

12 vegging, 12 ready to come down and 12 4 weeks out. Keep it movin'.

The reason you haven't spotted a finished grow in a GrowLab yet is because they simply haven't been out long enough. I was on pre-order with my LGS and it didn't arrive but about a month ago.

Then my plants died on me (not tent related), but for a good result in the end as I am pulling up stakes and moving to a bigger spot this weekend. Should be a decent show with plenty of photos and HD video log as well.

Peace :smoke:

I plan on getting a growlab 120L for flowering later in the year. Anyone know when the next edition of them are coming out?

If your darkroom glows you probably have the street addition. I got a darkroom and I sleep next to it, in the dark, no glow. Just got a sunhut and its cool too. I got the 4X4 sunhut for $215, well worth it and very sturdy.

Okay, it doesn't glow like a rave stick, but I'm not trippin' when I see the shadow of the oscillating fan cast onto the wall of the tent in a pitch black room. That's with 1k in a DR150.

As far as second editions go, only expect revamps of the windowless tents. The GrowLab 120 comes perfect as is. I'm 160 lbs and can do a pull-up on the frame without breaking it. No gear is too much for these things, not even 2 Magnum XXXL 8" make it sag.

I'm only giving my opinion here, not trying to be a salesman. Wasn't even trying to knock on Dark Rooms.

I'm getting ready to try out a grow tent as well. With the 3x3x7 (approx) do you run a input fan along w/ the exhaust fan? Or is the passive air intake w/ interior fans adequate to ventilate?

thanks....

The Homebox is pretty sturdy. What you don't see in my pic is my Can 33 filter resting on top of the crossed bars on the top (outside) of my tent.

I do wish that manufacturers would include more crossbars for the ceiling. It'd provide even more support while allowing for some flexibility for laying out lights and fans in your tent.

It's doing fine, but I do wonder about those plastic corners now and again. I just don't get too forceful with the thing. Open the flaps, peek inside, raise the light or turn the plants; no leaning or pull-ups though.

I've noticed glowing zippers on nearly every tent seen in person. It's easily rectified by arranging the second removable floor of the tent to cover over the zippers. Or you could duct tape a 2-3" wide strip of black plastic to the area directly behind the zippers creating a 'lip' to help baffle the light.

These are all okay fixes, but I'd like to think that these tent manufacturers would have noticed and corrected issues like these on their own by now.

Having said all of that, I still like my Homebox more than any cabinet.

@ jwm: I use a 6" Vortex fan dialed down to 1/3 of it's full power with no intake fans and my tent stays 72° F lights on and 64° F lights off.

Thanks for getting back pan, appreciate it. I'm trying to get this dialed in from the start to save time and money. One more question, I'm thinking of going w/ a 'batwing' reflector. I obviously wouldn't be able to exhaust from the hood. Would this create, iyo, any heat issues? Or should I just go w/ a hood that allows me to attach the ducting to the hood? thanks~ I'll be using a 400w CMH.

As long as you are venting properly, you shouldn't run into any heat issues.

I opted for an aircooled reflector because I like to sit my light on top of my buds, so to speak. A/C reflectors allow you to minimize the distance between your buds and your lamp. I've got my 400w HPS sitting about 6" from the plant tops. With the batwing style reflectors you have to keep your light back a little further so the heat being put off won't scorch the top nugs. However, I'd imagine that you could attach the ducting from your fan to one end of the batwing reflector to create a pseudo-aircooled reflector, so you could reduce the distance between your plants and reflector.

A/C reflectors are a bit more pricey, but worth it if you can spare the extra cash. If you're a little tight on the $, the batwing will work fine, too.

homebox... growlab

homebox... growlab

i think some might be confused. homebox is the older brand and growlab is also made by homebox, and everest... but it's growlab.

if homebox help design the growlab which came after... shouldn't their new tents be as good?

the growlab does looks to have sturdier tent material and seems to have less light leakage than most tents out now.
