Hovz basement adventures part 1

The washed sand is keeping the gnats away like a charm. I think they will do fine in the 5 gallon pots, but there is 3 in smaller pots that i need to transplant soon. I finally have a hold of some good genetics to keep mothers of, and now i want to maximize my efficiency and maybe get another 600 watt and maybe another 400 watt. I was thinking about buying an ebb and flow 12 bucket system after this grow so all i would have to do is mix nutrients into the reservoir. I haven't posted pics in a long time so ill charge my camera batteries and go take some pics.

Here's a few pictures of what the plants are looking like now. They are just barely starting to bud, it seems like they are taking forever, i think this is because i having cold temps at night, i have the lights on at night, but its probably not enough. It gets really cold in my basement. They are all female now. One of the biggest female plants fan leaves are turning purple on the ends, its hard to see in the pictures. I'll also post some more pics of the new clones i got.

There's the two clones i picked up in my veg chamber with just 2x 4ft florescent fixtures. Total of 4 bulbs for 160 watts for veg. Clones are very healthy.

Hey everybody, i went to Home Depot and picked up a little portable heater. Its 900 watts on low setting and 1500 on high, anyways i had it going in the room today and while i was still in there the lights shut off and i had to go flip the breaker, it only holds 20 amps. I put the heater on low setting on the same circuit and i think its working fine. The temp in the room is about 70 now with the lights on, the buckets they are growing in felt very cold before i got the heater, i hope this helps them out. I've been having some issues with electrical stuff so i could use some advice. I have 160 watts for veg lights, 1000 watts for flower lights. Fan is probably about 600 watts, heater is 900 for now so about 2660 total watts. I'm no electrician but i think i should run an extension cord from a different circuit. I also have another 1000 watt light coming in the mail so something needs to be done. Does anyone know how much watts a 20 amp breaker can hold safely?
The cold temperatures brought out some purple in one of the girls, the biggest most healthy looking one of the bunch, ill take some good pictures of her. I'll probably take clones too just for practice. The clones you see in the pictures before produces some really tasty potent bud, i am really excited for Hovz basement adventures part 2, where i'll take a bunch of clones off my new mothers once this bagseed test run finishes. If i remember right the weed these seeds came from was dense rock hard buds, i think mostly indica but the plants look like hybrids so i'm excited to see what i get.

Thanks for stopping in hazyville, the strain doesn't have a name as far as i know. By the looks of the buds it looks like hashplant. If i get a piece of the bud ill post a pic of it, I'll be watching for your thread when those beans pop.

My heater is barely heating the basement its on low setting (900 watts) until i can get an extension cord to run from another circuit to power the heater and a 1000 watt MH. Cold temps have been slowing this grow for awhile now, but i think once i get the 1000 watter in there things will start to speed up.

Hey errbody, its been a long time since i posted an update so i figured i was due. The 10 female bagseeds have finally started budding. From the looks of some of them, they turned hermie and have a couple bananas growing on the top of the bud. Can i get out the tweezers and pluck these things off or what. Ill post some pics of the problem, but im almost positive its male flowers.:mad: theres been so many problems with these bagseed i wish i would have just waited for clones, but o well. It was a test run for the most part. Oh i forgot to tell you all i ordered a 1000 mh with a reflector and its now hanging in the room. So thats a total of 2000 watts on 10 plants. Anyone got a prediction for a total yeild? i'm hoping for atleast 1.5 ounces per plant, do you guys think thats a reasonable estimate? I'll post some pics of the clones and also of the flowering plants. Ill test out my macro skills.

So i havn't been updating this thread as much as i wanted to, but from here on out ill be updating atleast twice a week, complete with flowering pics. Okay i know what most everybody wants to see is some buds, so ill start with what i just took a fat bong rip of.

Now back to my grow diary, the plants are finally starting to bud. I never really noticed any real big stretch in the first 25 days of flowering, where they took off or anything, this may be due to low temps. It seems like the low temps are just slowing everything down and costing me lots of electricity. Anyways, heres some pics of the plants, the camera was left in my car so the glass on the lense was condensed so the pics may look a lil blurry.I'll take better ones tonight or tommorow when the light is on. For a camera im using my Canon PowerShot A650 /w image stabilizer and 12.1 megapixels. If anyone wants to tell me how to take good macro shots with this camera, and or fix the hps glow that would be nice.

Ill get some pics of those two mother plants i got going of that PNW strain. Next round i think i'll be switching to blazeoneup's recirculating DWC, because it seems a lot easier to just top off a reservoir rather than have to water each plant by hand. Also what from what i've seen, hydroponics is much faster than soil, i love growing in soil and always will, but i think hydro is the way to go for me.
peace and stay high

Looking good bro! Looks like you may have got a little condensation in the camera lens. The best way to prevent that if you're bringing your camera from a cold car to a warm house is to put the camera in a plastic bag when it's still in the car, and then let it come to room temp in the house while still in the bag.

Good luck with the temps duder. I know how it goes, I have to battle frigid temps in the winter as well. Hell it's snowing outside right freaking now!

Hey Hov...stoppin by.

Looking good man. I was wondering, your buds look kinda leafy and I noticed you said something about hermie tendencies. Next time your lights are about to go off, stand in the room right when they do and close the door. Look for a light leak if at all possible.

They look good. Focus on getting those temps up. What are your lights on/off temps?

Good luck brotha I'll be stopping by.

PS: What are you feeding them? Those leafs could be from a lot of nitrogen, which isnt always a bad thing.

Thx for droppin in bterzz. The plants definatly have some bananas which mean they will probably drop some pollen on my buds which is not ideal. There might be a couple light leaks im gonna fix today, thanks for suggesting this. I've been trying to keep the temps up but its a constant struggle. I just got a new high/low digital thermometer so i'll be posting the temps as i update now. Also i got a humidity gauge. I'm feeding them strictly the 3part GH formula and was thinking about adding in some Koolbloom next watering. Still wondering if i can pluck the male flowers off or not. You're right about the leafy buds, the weird part is the seeds these came from was some dense rockhard solid indica humbolt county buds, so i'm hoping once things heat up, the plants will suprise me and i'm shooting for 450 grams of dried herb.

April 15, 2009 Temps MAX = 77 degrees Fahrenheit MIN = 65 degrees Fahrenheit
Okay so the temps seem to be under control now. The two clones i got are healthy and doing well still, they might need a transplant soon.
picture.php

Here's a sneak preview of what the bud will look like from the two clones, happen to come across the guy i got the clones from.
picture.php

Here they are all bag seed i picked them myself out of some bud i got from Humboldt county in Cali. As for how many days into flowering they are, its been way to many. Something defianlty stunted them and i'm hoping it was cold temps. If anyone has any suggestions on how to plump these ladies up or any suggestions for that matter, please feel free to post here.
