is pk (pure kush) really that rare of a strain?

in the cannabible, jason king says pk is the rarest and most elite ganja strain on the planet and that he got a half 8th or something for like 60 bucks. i have some pure kush that i got from a friend who said he got some pk clones from socal. he was not aware of what the cannabible said about the pk strain but when i told him he told me that pk clones are easier to get than real og kush and bubba kush clones. so i'm wondering if the pk that i have is the pk that jason king is refering to in the cannabible and if pk is really the rarest strain on the planet.

That's a question with subjective answers. But from my experience, NO.

60 for a half eighth sounds about right because PK is the shittiest yielding elite strain I have grown to date. So similar to other Kushs that there is no point in growing it IMO. In fact it is so shitty a yielder people might get confused on how much they actually like it cause of the fact the jar will empty a lot sooner before others lol... but some I have met some people do truly love it so each to their own.

I'm familiar with what you're speaking about, as I have all 3 Cannabibles.

However, a lot of the information in the cannabible is wrong, I've since found out. You have to remember, Jason King isn't a breeder, or a grower... Just simply a smoker, "journalist", and amazing photographer. He is just going by what people in different areas of the country have told him, and like I said, a lot of the information he gives regarding strain lineage of certain strains is wrong.

Maybe Jason King really did get some super strong weed for 60 for half an 8th, and the people told him it was "Pure Kush", and it really wasn't. Or maybe it really was Pure Kush, and since the publication of the Cannabible, people have decided to try to cash in on that name. It would make sense either way, especially with the kush hype over the past few years.

But I remember him saying that it goes for over $1,000 an ounce and that usually only rich hollywood types buy it. If that's true, and it's really that expensive, my theory is that the plants are very very low yielders and that is why it's so expensive.

pure kush out yeilds bubba and most og's easy.......... it is the best yeilding kush and if you have the real pure kush cut to has a better high as well.......... to get the real deal pure kush cut yes it is rare there are alot of knock off like any kush line

Having the clone - is almost a curse.... The pot is so good, that people get crazy dramatic over it. Getting the clone, getting the buds, etc...

It is rare yes, because it yields NADA, and growers that I know simply grow 2 or 3 in their room for their own head.... Anymore...

The price question is subjective....

But, there was a time when the Chemdog/OGK cut and PK (VERY similar) did get big numbers.... I don;t know about the 1k/z theory, but J King is pretty knowledgeable.. He is also prone to extrapolating hyperbole and getting excited about the best buds.. Sometimes he goes off 'verbally.'

IMHO, both the cuts mentioned above are the best buds available, if the grower knows how to deal with Powdery mildew.

The buzz is narcotic, 2X as strong as anything else out there.... An alive, happy, rapturous buzz. With KILLER flavour. And it is almost impossible to hold a big toke, due to smoke expansion.

these buds we got were so resinous that they ruined three metal grinders between me and my freinds my grinder was stuck closed for three days
it smelled kinda like a diesel ogk cross iv never grown it so dont quote me
and its got an extremely strong high
and no i didnt pay 1000 dollors for a zone
and between me n my freinds there was about a half puond that we smoked since then im on a constant search for pure kush

Jason King is a journalist, just like any other journalist he exagerates, to make things seem more exciting which people will want to read more and buy his books.

Like in restaurants instead of say fish fillet if you call it a gourmet italian fish fillet it is going to generally sell 15% better or more.

i didnt think it was any better then katsu bubba
different tho i let it go after a year or so since it wasnt tasty in the volcano
grew just like bubba but yielded a bit more.

It's really like any 'cali kush' give or take a few days. It looks done 50-60 days, but the rewarding high is to be found at 70+ days along with a tad bit more yield, or density rather. Also people say day wise 12/12, but who knows when they start counting, at flip, at preflower, after stretch etc. I generally take, or did take, kushs to around 70 days.

I grew the LA pure, (not sure if it is the same)...but I grew it right next to two pre-98 bubbas and the bubbas definitely yielded more in my garden. Not much more though because most these cali kushs the yield is complete shit...especially for those not growing with a lot of watts. So extra veg time is a MUST every time.

This is why I am taking a liking to the chemdawgs for this very reason, no loss in quality yet a HUGE gain in yield...I do wish there was a little more euphoric/creativity in the high, or stone rather, purely due to my personal taste. No complaints in the taste department on any kush esp. the pure.

I can tell they dont put out very much. I vegged mine for over a month and once they started blooming, they only stretched a few inches. LOL! Strangest thing I ever seen. They are like these tightly woven budballs. Gotta spread their legs to see the goodies. Not unlike other things. They are starting to take on a piney kinda stink now. I might just do as recommended and from now on, just bloom one or two for the head.

My earlier assessment of PK and OGK / Chemdog being the best buds available has NOTHING to do with what Jason King said... It is based on personal experiences over time, and the opinionz of full-on Heads.....

IMHO, PK = the old chemdog clone... I have both, and they are VERY VERY similar.

No relation to Bubba.... Not squat, or nearly 100% indica. More like 70-30...... Stretches 2-3X.... 65 days is optimum....

Havent got the PK in pure form never, but in crosses yes!!

What I have talked with the guy who made the beans = not the best yield of cannabis strains, but superior high with HUGE breeding potential!

Too much shadiness in Cali medpot scene IMHO!!
