Day light savings time...

I have put a lot of time and effort to ensure this grow goes perfect for me. This grow has taken me almost 6 months from day 1 and I have busted my ass to stay on top of the game. I think most of us know Sunday is day light savings time, we will move the clock forwards in other words what used to be 8 am will now be 9 am.

Anyways I am not in a sealed room controlled environment and keeping the lighting hours consistent with real time (adjusting my timer) is easier for me but I really really don't want any problems I am in 7 weeks of flowering on a 70-75 day strain. How much of an effect will it have if my lights go off an hour sooner and come on an hour sooner to adjust to daylight savings. I am so scared for my precious babies...:1help:

If you can, I'd give them 15 mins of extra darkness every day for 4 days (11:45/12:15) to ease them into that hour gently. The natural day anywhere off the equator varies by a few minutes in length daily anyway, so it's something the plants should be able to handle. I used to use an old mechanical timer that would be about 1:25 ahead of where it started by the end of a flowering cycle... off by almost 2 mins/day and never a problem.

(Check weather.com out and look at local sunrise/sunset times over a few-day period and you can see how it changes at your latitude.)

dont much matter when they go off, as long as they stay off for at least 12 hours, then resume normal cycle.

I can't imagine why you'd bother. 12 hours is 12 hours no matter what individual hours are named. Avoid slow acclimation! Cold turkey all the way.

Next time your light comes on, pull out the ON pin. When the light goes out, wait a typical night period, choose a new sunrise, fire up the lamp and reset the pins. A one time glitch won't affect the grow. Screwing light schedules on a daily basis is asking for trouble.

As I N hail pointed out it is in fact lined up with my work schedule and that is why I thought to bother. If I leave it I will be an hour late to work everyday lol...might not go so well with the boss. Yea slow acclimation would def worry me and I will go 'cold turkey' on them.

So freezer you are saying when my lamp is on adjust the time and let it go off an hour sooner first, correct? My timer doesn't have any pins just little notches in, that you can push in for on and out for off. Each are worth 15 minutes. I think you, (and I N ) said change the notches after it comes on in the morning so it will have a new sunset first.

I am just making sure I don't fuck this up. This is my very last run and I cant lose it. I think leaving them how they are really isn't an option for me...otherwise trust me I would never touch it. Sorry to look like a dumb ass but I triple check my steps especially cause this will be my last good bud for a long long time.

K+ for everyone. Thank you.

As stated already, with a mechanical timer it will still remain in a 12/12 cycle unless you mess with it. Just means the lights come on an hour later, no biggie, just following that natural progression. I use lights off during the day time anyway, to help offset the cold night temps.

No. Let it go out at the normal time. After a 12 hour night period, pick a new sunrise, turn on the lamp and reset the timer. It's only a one time thing but, you don't want the plant to see shorter nights, longer days.

i dont know why you would need to change the timer because of daylight savings time, but let em sleep early. then let em wake early the next day.
