I see a lot of folks talking about their "pre98 cuts" and I'm curious to know what happened in 1998 that made all subsequent cuts less favourable?

I've been smoking some of these strains right through and honestly cant see what happened to change anything...whats wrong with jack herer from 99.... or bubba from 2000?

thanks for any insight

that I could believe

I was just curious how it came to be this particular year and not the one before or after.. I thought maybe someone got busted and lost the worlds gene stash..lol

I think some strains just happened to be re-worked by their breeders in 1998. I think Kali Mist is one of those. The breeder, for whatever reason, decided to change the gene pool.

lolol good question......

hal is right on with the kali mist.... except that i believe originals were seized from simon and he had to work with different gene pools out of necessity.... well at least thats what i remember reading...

pre-98 bubba kush is just that. from before 98. its been spread by swerve in so cal. it made its way up north. some would say its the other way around. the versions of bubba kush after 98 (katsu is the first one that comes to mind) are just as good if you ask me. the pre-98 has the definate coffee kushy smell. the katsu has almost a funky kush smell. i dont think pre-98 is necessarily better, its just the term used to differentiate the cut from all the s1's, bx's and other hybrids (and theres plenty):joint:

when i think of pre-98 i think of a purer gene pool, og kushs that could be traced to the oldschool strains from which they originated pretty easily, there is so much breeding going on now you really have no idea exactly what is in some of the newer hybrids, little pieces from a lot of different areas.

IMO you might say pre 98 cut of ?????? but most have variations in there genotype so IMHO not very easy to get 2 plants the same do to growing conditions. I could be totally wrong here but I have never seen 2 plants that look the same there will be a difference.
