UVC light in your ducting. Does it work?

I'm thinking of tossing some uvc light in my ducting to help control odors. I'm using a can filter but there still is a faint odor getting through. The filter is brand new so I know it's not too old. Anyone use uvc and if so, how has it worked out? What's your setup?

I think it is an ozone generator you want. UVC is more closely associated with being a germicide (sp?) used by hospitals, aquarists, Hydro systems, etc.

Most of the UV-C bulbs out there block the wavelength that causes the formation of ozone (185 and 254 nm). Otherwise all you are doing is sterilizing the air. If you want one that makes ozone make sure that they specify "ozone producing". The Air Tiger, Uvonair and a few others rely on such UV-C fluorescent bulbs as a source of ozone. Replacement bulbs for these units may be an option for you.

I've been looking for a good cheap source of UV-C ozone producing bulbs with no luck. From what I have seen they start at $40 and go up. If you find one let us know.

I thought uvc also got rid of odors except without the ozone. I know that they are commonly used as germicides, but what about odors? I've seen them advertised as reducing odors as well on the web and on the one at lowes.

nice. I'll check out the website. Do you know how big of a bulb you have in your unit or the model #?

Anyone else have experience. I just bought a 36 watt setup. I have to get this under control!~

The ozone is going to do a better job,but you will need to vent it outside.
I have a corona discharge ozone generator, but only use it at the end of my grows, when its stinky as hell.

Yea as long is in outake line and running on timer 30 on 30 off it will destroy any and all odors. I then use a vaportek in living room to keep the "clean fresh smell"

Of couarse I also have 20lb carbon in room. But between the 3 vaportek is number , ozone 2 and scrubber 3

I have the 4000 which is for a 4 thousand sq. ft. house, not that my place is that big, but I believe bigger=better. They also have a 1500, 1700, 3500 and a portable which covers approx. 900 sq.ft.http://www.sanuvox.com/

I do have a vaportech. I bought the odor eater tabs but I don't like how they smell. I don't think that they smell different enough from what I'm trying to avoid. What tabs are you guys using on the vapor tech?

I ordered a 37 watt bulb which is the same bulb as your 4000. How do you like your 4000? Is it super effective or just so so? I assume you are using it post scrubber right?

is that the hs 3.0? Are you using that inside your grow room in conjunction with the uvc and also a scrubber?

Yes, it's the 3.0. I just triple up the carbon filter in the Hepa, (I get hvac products very cheap) and I don't use an actual can filter, and like I previously said have no odour issues.:joint:

I just hooked up my 36 watt uvc light in my ducting. I should probably know if it's working by the morning. With my 6" can fan and scrubber, there is still a faint skunky smell coming out of the ducting. Hopefully this will make it so I can't tell anything is there when my face is by the ducting.
