Best Compressed Coco?

pretty much all brick coco comes from the same place (Vgrove) ... GH, Botanicare, Sunleaves etc. The same can be said for all the loose processed coco, the only differences with those is how they grind up the bricks and how the wash, compost, add benificials or other ammendments before bagging it up.

I've been told that GH and Bontanicare are great, but Sunleaves has super high salt levels. Also, Bontanicare specifically mentions the fact that it has its own source, which is washed under "at least three monsoon seasons worth of rain" before going to market.

I'm not doubting your claim, but why would GH and Bontanicare get the nod, but Sunleaves fall short, assuming they are indeed from the same source?

I bought a Botanicare CocoGro bale a while ago and I love it.

Only complaint is that it took forever to break it all up and I still find small chunks of compressed coco from time to time.

I pay 11 bucks for a 5k brick and that does about 5 3 gallon pots. I like it thus far and am just using it. I have used canna in the past with great results, but a batch of sunleaves bricks killed 40-50 of my seedlings. DONT BUY SUNLEAVES

Sunleaves is crap.. if they're all coming from ther same place, sunleaves is whats left sitting in the salt water, after the other companies pull the good shit off the top LOL..

I managed with sunleaves through two grows, but i found botonicares cocogro, and the gh cocotek to be far superior choices. Much less salt, and better texture-consistency.

Just bought a few bricks of GH's Cocotek for my starting Chronic seedlings. This is the first time I've even touched coco, and I don't think I've felt anything more beautiful to be honest. The bricks break down fast and before you know it your mixture is turning into playful mud, that then magically transforms into a seemingly weightless medium of cocony goodness.

Go with coco, u can't say nono.

The "Eco Earth" bricks from "Zoo Med" are actually really good. They have dead beetle husks in them sometimes, and the occasional pebble, but they've clearly been aged(beetles are bleached out looking), and the salt levels are totally ok. Compared to other bricked sources of coir, I'd say they're in the top tier, and they're not even meant for growing specifically....

I've been using Crystal Co. compressed coco for years with absolutely no problems at all. I know it's not a glamorous name brand, and honestly I don't know why my local grow shop stocked it, but it's very good stuff. I haven't seen it in stock since I bought a huge bale several years ago, but if you can find it it's well worth the cheap price.
