African herbman, hello :)
it is good to know our swazis look alike, and yes, your descriptions regarding early resination and overall stickness match my plants, although I think they would produce even more if they were to receive more hours of direct sun-light than they actually do, which is only between 6 and 7 hours of direct light per day.
Why not throw in a couple of pics while your swazi is still vegetating? should be nice too :)

fideralala, hello man, I am pretty sure we already went over the breeders of the diff. swazis that have been posted here, just browse back a few pages :)

look good ElRubio :)

here is an update on the swazi:

PVR - look at those Swazis! Beautiful plants, everyone. What a bounty of connoisseur smoke! :woohoo:

Update - Here's my T. Vision [(Malawi x Blueberry) x (SWT3 x Bangi Haze)] at 80 days. I found several amber trichs among the cloudy and clears, she's coming down tonight. Wow, what a wonderfully multi-cultural polyhybrid! There's a whole 25% Malawi, the Congolese and Nepalese influence from the Bangi Haze, the Oaxacan, Thai and Afghani from the Blueberry and some of the SWT3, and then wherever the fuck Sweet Pink Grapefruit is from. Africa, Asia, and the Americas are all represented. At this point, it smells predominantly like a rose (thank you, DJ), with an astringent citrus note and a peculiar sweet/chemical background funk that I assume is from the Malawi, because it's a wholly new cannabis smell to me. A bit like juniper berries, but not quite.

From what I've experienced thus far, I absolutely adore African cannabis. I've had wonderful results growing and/or smoking Power Plant, several Durbans, Richard Williams Deep Congo (Ace Congo #3 x Deep Chunk), and this Tribal V., and I hope to be able to test out some of the less commercial pure regional strains someday. Hopefully soon Gypsy will begin carrying some mainland African landrace seeds alongside the current Asian offerings. For now, exploring the F2 and beyond of the Deep Congo is one of the first projects on my list.

Wow man that Swazi is looking nice! Should produce a good solid cola.
Here are my babies. Heavy cropping to promote some new growth as they're outdoors and were heading into autumn so it's flowering time.

Any similaritys PRV?
Anyone care to tell me what creature's causing those worm-like marks on the leafs?

That is a very pretty and interesting polyhybrid PondeLftHndSide, good luck with her.

Regards, ah.

Leaf miners
These Little creatures are a pain to get rid of, the miners eat and dig squiggly lines into your leaves all the while planting their larvae in them making it hard to get rid of them. They plant there eggs in the leaves in mid When they hatch they feed off of your leaves untill they get big enough to pupate. Pupation occurs within the leaf or in the soil beneath the plant. After they emerge the entire cycle will start over and you will have a bigger infestation.

Controls
Controls: Natural control for these insects is difficult. You can remove affected leaves and discard them. Chemical control is hard and is ment towards the emerging adults. Since the larvae is well protected within the leaf. Neem oil will work well.

Thanks a lot Jones! I'll try removing the infected leaves and see how that goes.

Cheers.:joint:

PondeLftHndSide, those are some beautiful plants :joint: me likes! I would really like to get some tribal vision beans sometime, I hear very good things about the high too. have you harvested any of it before that one? very good job growing her, she looks so nice, really like the colours, are they due to cold? the congolese has some real nice colours too.

African herbman,
hello man, your swazi babies look good, they are very young too, if we have similar swazis, your vegging plants should become a darker green, the swazi I have tends to pop-up the ground and for the few first weeks it will have a lighter green than the one it gets once one starts to feed them well. cannot wait to see her flowering, specially with that supercropping trimming technique, very interesting :joint:

Jones, great info man, k+, thank you :) I have tried atomizing H2O2 dilluted with plain water at 50/50 proportion to get rid of leaf miners, but it does not seem to work that well, maybe it controls adult populations a bit.

much peace and good health all :)

PazVerdeRadical, I think they will get darker soon like you say. Both mother and fathers were darker but were light when young. The older leaves are already starting to darken.

Here is something funny, a really fat leaved father. 2 best fathers were used to pollinate 1 best female. One male with normal medium thin Swazi leaves and this fat boy. Some guys don't believe you can find fat leaf sativas. This one, like other fat leaf swazis I've come across, started to thin out really fast. African strains often have those fat "baby leaves" then thin out. This one was just a little fatter than usual. No Indica expressions in him what so ever.
Can you spot the fatter leaved pheno amongst the thinner leaved ones in the group shot before? At least it's easy to identify which father was used by looking at the leaves.

What do you think of the swazi in terms of high, yield, potency, bag appeal etc?

PVR - thanks so much! A very, very easy plant to grow, all my clones rooted very quickly. In fact, several clones were flowering away right next to their mother when I harvested her! The colors are purely genetic, temps in my room never dropped below 66F. I haven't smoked it yet, I just harvested, but the scissor hash leads me to believe that there is THCV in this plant. I felt subtle psychedelic effects kick in almost instantly upon exhaling the first hit last night - peripheral vision distortions, tracers, closed-eye patterns, and they wore off after about 2-3 minutes. Kept me awake, too. I'll be making bubble hash with the frozen trim, maybe this afternoon.

Keep 'em coming! Let's see those Africans!

African herbman, hello :)

the fat-leaves that then thin out as the seedlings start to mature are indeed very much common in the african strains and hybrids I have tried so far, it is some sort of trait that manifest itselfs in certain phenotypes, it would be interesting to know if the fat-leaf trait signifies anything, like such plants being more pest resistent or if they give bigger yields? who knows, would be fun trying to find out, maybe it does not mean anything besides it has fatter leaves :D
the swazi red imo has very nice effect, bag appeal and good yield, I could smoke it all day long, it is a clear high and it is best smoked when it has been properly cured for over a month at least, the come down is soft too, no couch-lock really. what is your take on it?

Ponde, I have heard the tribal vision is very psychedelic, should prove a fun high once it has been well cured too... I dunno about THCV and how it relates to the high though.

much peace :)

i would really like to go on an african expedition and try to bring back seeds and cuttings to start breeding new shit from scratch. anyone know where I can get some quality landrace seeds. I dont think any of the seeds from world of seeds are actually straight from their original country, rather f1/s1 made of seeds/cuttings from those locales. Also, anyone have any experience with the real seed company?

I have noticed that it seems like the fat leaf male has produced darker seeds than seeds produced from the thin leaf father. The structure was also more compact and squat on the fat leaf father. It seems to have passes a bit of that trait on to the one fat leaf baby I got.
It will be interesting to see what comes of it...

I was very happy with the mother of the seeds. Very stretchy when flipped which was no problem as it got packed with bud sites. Good resin and high potency with a very up Sativa head high with smooth come-down like you said. She was small but I could see the potential for huge yields if grown bigger especially outdoors. She definitely needs a good cure, just like all full blooded Sativas IMHO. At least 4 weeks jar cured before sampling.

Regards, Ah.

Also, anyone have any experience with the real seed company?

I wouldn't have the slightest hesitation in ordering from the Real Seed Co,although I haven't ordered from them yet.Read thru some of the posts by namkha, and you will see why I wouldn't be reluctant at all with dealing with him,the guy just oozes honesty..

Thats my opinion fwiw.

PondeLftHndSide,
I think that I see nanners in pics 3 & 5
Correct me if I´m wrong :D

No, you're correct. Those were due to a light leak in my new flowering room, my fault. I had a few show up on some other plants as well, plants that I've been growing for years without ever seeing a single hint of a male flower.

I've got a couple of Tribal V. clones at 9 weeks right now, and they are all woman. They have 3 weeks left to show me if it was just a light leak or not.

BTW, this has fast become my hands-down favorite herb for anything to do with music - listening, performance or just plain thinking about music. It gives me an expanded mental and spiritual soundstage and allows me to process multiple levels of musical thought in real-time. It basically just blows any music wide open into an interactive mental painting. It can make The Shaggs sound like a symphony.
