i did not care for this movie and could not finish it. was dark and amateurish, made me uncomfortable at times. am i supposed to believe a square who takes one hit from a joint is going to turn into a hippy??

i would rather see films about growers portrayed as the normal neighbors next door because thats what we are.

Yeah I still need to finish it but from what I saw it seemed to be portraying the people as hillbillies from the ozarks or something. It did seem dark to me and didn't put the people/culture in a very positive light imo. Anyways, that was my first impression from watching about 45 mins.

I know some people in NorCal that resemble Brad Dourif and his "wife" to a T ... Same philosophy too ... Grow what you need safely ... Thank the plant thank the planet thank the goddess and give some back

Old thread, but I just checked this on Netflix...... was nice to see some H.C. footage.... however I didn't see one real shot of 'the lost coast'... only one quick frame of the beat up road signage for Redway and Shelter Cove. The rest of it must have been done in the northern part of the county around Arcata.

And who the hell grows in the thick of a redwood grove? helloooo.... sunlight????? These guys should have done their homework.

They could have titled the movie anything..... I think they used the 'Humboldt County' title just to get people in the door.

Anyway... pretty decent movie that had less to do with the weed growing culture as it did with a 'coming of age' type drama.

Wish there was more of Fairuza Balk..... she's an awesome actress. And you can't go wrong with Peter Bogdanovich (One Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest, etc).
