So i'm going to be getting started with my first grow soon, and i have an area thats about 2 feet deep, 3.5 feet across, and 4 feet in height. I was wondering what kind of lights/setup would be best for this area. Im just looking to start a small op to get my green thumb workin. Ive been thinking 150W HPS would be a good start, but have been considering the CFL method as well.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks :) :joint:

you could defiantly get a 250w in there with a 4'' inline fan, and since its your first grow try soil out its easy to learn with, that's what I did then transferred over to coco.. and a bigger setup..

I fully agree with purple. Remember to rotate your plants because all the blue light is going to stimulate phototropic response (growing towards a light source) in your plants. Also, get a 6" blower, especially if you live somewhere warm -- you can always turn it down. A 4" blower moves considerably less cfm than a 6".

I would strongly advise you not to use bag seed, especially for your first crop. Buy a reasonably priced, relatively easy-to-grow strain from a reputable seed company. A feminized variety saves you the time (and effort) required to sex your seedlings. Finding good genetics is half the battle when it comes to growing good weed, and you don't want to handicap yourself right off the bat with unknown genetics when it is your first time growing.

My first grow turned out pretty well all things considered, and as luck would have it I found a weird Flo-ish head phenotype of Original Blueberry that I kept for several years cuz I loved the high (and it had a great bouquet). Perfect sunny afternoon smoke.
