Do you think my plants will burn If

Ok the current situation. I have PC with 130 watts of CFL. My buddy gave me a 100 watt HPS light a while back. I ran the hps in there before and burn my plants. I've also got it line with tin foil for reflection.

OK now if I take the foil out and put the 100 hps back in do you think I will risk burning my autos? No reflective material. Should I just let the CFLs rock instead?

Just seeking everyone's :2cents:

Right now I'm doing a mock run with the foil still in, temps seem to be running alright. I'm just worried about hotspots.

If you ran the HPS before and it burned the plants I don't think taking out the tin foil will stop it seeing as it will still be too much heat. Also, I believe you will get better reflectivity from white paint or mylar than tin foil.

So you think 100 watts might be too strong then? I haven't got them in the pc now, but light is running. Temps are alright even before than temps were good. I think what burned was hotspots caused by the foil. The last time the leaves looked like they had been bleached.

It shouldn't ? Some ppl say it does, some don't

Two pcs fans. Good air circulation, box doesn't feel too warm outside or inside. Been running for two plus hours now, exhaust temps are about 82-84. Not too extreme.

how are the temps inside??? 100w is alot of light for a pc grow if you can get it to run well then should be nice little setup

No not really, I think what did it last time was the alumiumim foil. I took the foil out about 45 mins ago, the temps seem to be running cooler now. So I might go ahead and rig up the hps light in a bare bone PC again. I think thats what burned and bleached the leaves last time was the foil and hps light= hotspots. The only heat I can fill is like 2-3 inches under the light.

yeah sounds like that is what did it then.. when I try to add some reflective material i always get a bit of a heat increase but I have heard that tin foil does produce some really hot spots I have never used it though.. you could maybe try some emergency blanket it may not create crazy hot spots i have used that before with some good success its pretty cheap too.. its like a couple of bucks at any outdoors type store..
