If you acknowledge that it's a gov't job and that dogs could be encountered again, then does it really matter if it can smell 200 ft. away vs. 50 ft. away? Does if matter how long scents stay in your work cloths? Don't get me wrong, I understand that you're curious and just want to understand the unknown, but if you'll be around them again, who's to say they won't be closer next time?

Sounds like some basic precautions couldn't hurt. Gov't jobs can be tricky. If you aren't handling your plants when in work cloths, then you don't have to always worry if it's gonna trigger a dog. If you don't smoke before or during work, then you won't have to worry if it's ever gonna be a problem. Try not to see these basic precautions (along with any other obvious ones) as a pain in the ass, but instead as allowing you to have peace of mind.

Maybe they just felt like searching you, sort of like a false positive situation (when the handler makes the dog react like there's drugs for no other reason other than wanting to search you and needing that false positive as their probable cause). Maybe the dog was really on to something that you had in your pocket or whatever.

I think you looked a little suspicious or nervous and she decided to check you out. I have no doubt the dog could smell the residual odor fom your plants.

Never handle your plants, then go in public. Always shower and change clothes.

Get a better container for your buds! And don't keep them with your cloths in the closet. It's easy to get used to that stuff when it's YOUR place and YOUR cloths, but I have no doubt a dog would smell it.

As mentioned in the other reply changing cloths after handling plants is probably a good call too.

How is it possible that you can work a computer?

You work for the gov't? That actually makes sense.

i just dont know if the dog was hitting on me

ROTFLMAO! That actually happened to me at the airport. I just pulled my bag off the carousel and knelt down when a black lab came out of nowhere and slurped my face. I rub faces, call her pretty puppy and a deep voice behind me says, don't touch the dog.

Hands raised, I stand, turn and apologize for assaulting a police dog on the job but ... but ... she started it ... she licked me in the face ...

LEO asks if the dog can check the bag. Absolutely, I said backing up. Dog won't sniff. She walks around me and hides, gives me a take me home look. I jump aside. Puppy, I'm in enough trouble. Sniff something! Anything!

Leo tries a few more times, apologizes and tells the dog she's failed her final exam. Who knows, maybe I could've gotten that gram of hash across the border but, I'm still glad I didn't try.

I've met dogs that are probably smarter than you.

The dog could probably "smell the fear"...

-Edit-
Probably would be better if I worded this "properly".

Animals are much smarter than people give them credit for.

I know a guy who does all work on his show in the nude. Then again, he started doing this after realizing spider mites and such ride in on clothing not because he was worried about dogs.

haha oh man that is so funny, but strangely appealing and sensible sounding. im afraid of spider mites, so i think i'll have all ladies check their clothes at the door.

Check out Barry Cooper's nevergetbusted.com. A good tip I got from him is that if a dog alerts everywhere, it becomes useless. Over a period of time you could spread small amounts of cannabis in many locations. The dog will have to be put back in the car.

most sniffer dogs in the uk are taught to sit down next to the person if they detect the smell of narcotics:joint::joint::joint::joint:

Yea Mac I've seen that too. Most dogs sit next to the area with contraband. Also never attempt to attack/shoot one of them dogs. A guy in the neighborhood shot and killed a police dog and hes been in jail for years. Even if they bite you don't kill it. Just take the bite on your arm or somewhere non-vital. Police will also definetly shoot you if you try and hurt their dog.

Reminds me of the scene from half baked where kenny kills the police horse.

Yes it will stay on your clothes! yesterday I was getting rid of a plant that hermied, all the leaves and such were taken off previously, so it was just a 2' stem in a grow bag with soil. well, in the process of removing the soil from the rootball in to a bag (this is so the soil can be used elsewhere, not for mj) the stem rubbed back and forth across my shoulder. i didnt really notice at the time, but as i was driving around later that day and couldnt figure out where that DANK smell was coming from. then i caught a strong wiff from my shoulder and WOW is that ever strong. it stayed on there the rest of the day. had i been pulled over there would have been problems.

You can buy coveralls that you only use in the room if you dont want contamination. i would think being naked in there may cause other contaminations.....ewwwww

If you know the dog will be around, you could save up stems/trim and soak it in alcohol. Put the alcohol in a spray bottle and spray it around the area. The dog will go nuts but the cops won't be able to find anything..........

It could be one of a thousand reasons, My friend had a sniffer dog go crazy in his car.Reason being his own dog was on heat and had been in the car a few days before.
Chill out and don't take any chances.

LEO can give the dog subtle cues to react then watch your reaction. If you are standing there with a guilty look on your face, LEO will notice. This was just a warning...

I do believe you work for the govt...
