IGT, i sometimes used to get the rot stem as well. this is my take that may lead to stem rot, high temps, dirty water. Or , the area where the stem wekens and mushes to me seems like it is from disease. with my diy aerocloner, if i have ANY cut sites above the water line i get rot. I try not to have any cut nodes above the neoprem puck holder, or any cuts inside the puck. i found that because of the open wound the plant can get rot.
Sometimes if the wound was just above the puck it gets high humidity and molds. In the chamber the highly oxygenated water actually sterilizes the stem.
If i know the wound would be just above the puck, i trim the node but leave an inch or so of stem. its will heal, or mush and fall off. this way the wound is not anywhere close to the stalk.
since any node that was trimmed is under the puck now, i get very little rot. i loose one here and there out a 60site cloner
