Homebox S - Anyone have experience?

Hey guys,

I'm planning a new grow the upcoming few months. Since I'll be on the move for the next year or so in apartments, I figured a Homebox S would be an idea combination of portability and quick installation/tear-down. My next grow is lowryder, probably followed by a similarly small indica (I've learned my lesson on long-flowering sativas). I have a 250 W HPS and a 190 CFM fan, which the website says is an ideal fit, but just wanted to get the ICMag opinion.

Any thoughts?

Homebox S - ~$150

31,5 x 31,5 x 63

Homebox (for comparison) - ~$200

39.5" x 39.5" x 78.75"

I use the slightly smaller homebox xs. I've got a 250 watt in there with a 120 cfm fan. No heat issues, and it's down in less than 10 minutes if I need to do that.

No light leaks, and it's ideal for a single plant scrog, or a SOG setup.

I say go for it.

I would think these would be a great clone or even mom rooms. I'm use to growing in cabinets tho :) :joint:

How "lights proof" are these?

Happy growing!! :D

I am told neither are 100% lightproof, but the reason I'm leaning Homebox vs. DR is that I am told DR is being fazed out for their new line, and that they really haven't made too many improvements in the DR line.

The Darkroom is not going away - this is a lie perpetuated by shills for the Growlab tents.

They want everyone to think the Growlab is some Darkroom replacement, when in reality the Growlab company is just a Darkroom distributor who switched to their own tent.

Early feed back has not been good, apparently the Growlab tents leak light at the viewing window they added in the front, wasn't done right supposedly.

Stick with Homebox or Darkroom, they are both great tents. Both equally light proof, which is like 99.9%. Darkroom fixed every complaint with the updated 2008 models as well, great zippers and much better flaps behind them to make sure light cannot get through.

Growlab is just a jacked up Darkroom knockoff that screwed up the solid Homebox design if you ask me.

actually, this is my first post on icmag, however I have some experience with Homebox S, been using it now for a second grow. First grow was done with a 250w hps in a cooltube, in current grow I upgraded the light to 400w hps and I love it.

I would def recommend getting a 400w in Homebox S, regardless of what manufacture said, if only you can vent it properly. With 400W you are also way above 50w/sqf...

Hope this helps.
