hey there coco heads!

this is being posted here to share with the coco heads as well. i only post in the diary section til this point. some of you might know me, but most dont. seeing as i am in coco for the 3rd time i guess i better get a coco thread up too.

a lil history, i been growing solo for 3 years and learnin how for 8 (5 years of reading and helping) the last 5 years i have been religiously improving knowledge. I grew in soil organically at the start and did a few lil dwc jugs which rocked, then i thought about automation and couldnt afford a chiller for a rec dwc. coco was my savior.
like most i had my bumps in the road. i over ferted and had lock out was my worst to date. thankfully i am quite skilled at identifing deficiency asap and thanks to infirmary i know how to correct them properly.
now that i have a much better idea how to approach this medium i am hoping for a 3rd run with little to no probs. for a lil history on my past coco run check my sig that takes you to diaries. the last completed run was 100% coco attempt. hella pot for pennies man.
well here is the room. pictured is 26 plants. 25 on the system and 1 mutant female being hand watered. there are 3 rows of 6 and 1 row of 7 on the table. the row of 7 is the front row, all my stretchy strains. b4 anyone says something i know i need a proper tray, but when broke i do what i got 2 do. i shopped a few table trays for next run and have 1 lined up. getting a 6x3 or a 4x8. depends on a few factors, but both are tucked away for me.
ok here we go. currentlly just over 2 weeks flowering.

i have some close ups of individual strains but i am gonna take more pictures tonight that are clearer and post those instead. if there is any interest check my sig and go to my diary to see the pics already taken.

what's the white stone on top the coir for?
i'd work on my lighting before i'd go for the tray.
lighting far more important than tray
you can push up your yield with a cheapo reflector
and skip the open bulb
also your area is rectangle facing left & right
the lamp in the tube should be turned 90 degrees
and the open bulb made parallel to that cool tube to blend
the light and get a sweet spot in the center

lookin good sir dont ya just love the coco! that table will come for ya soon enough bro i got a feelin. imo drip to waste is the way to go on coco and you really should read gr3atful h3ads thread up in the stickys. i was doin good for a couple years on the pbp and switched overr to h3ads formula a few months back and totally stepped my game up a notch. thanks for the pics k+ for your fat harvest.

onegreenday dang sir said hes on a budget yo cut em some slack. i think they look nice and i disagree on the table versus light issue, coco requires way more water than people think and a decent table makes life so much easier. i have hung a bulb vert next to some hoods and got good results, but i was movin the vert light around a lil bit and it was really just for supplemental.

the perlite on top is because i noticed a few knats buzzing around and i am trying to kill them off, and also it defuses the stream coming out of my drip lines pretty nicely
i have other reflectors and cool tubes and dont care to use them right now. just 4 supplemental lighting right now. i was moving the cool tube back and forth each day but it became a task....
since the light in the tube is a 1k and its growing area is preferably 4x4 but realistically can cover an area of 5x5 i opted to have it this direction because my table is 6ftx8ft and the light in the tube is very effectively covering a 6x5ft area at the moment and the hanging 400 watter is sitting in a stadium shaped canopy covering just the end plants . the only light being lost i am not worried about right now. soon i will hang my other 1k and they will each have 6x4 areas. that means that the rectangular foot print of the cool tube wings will be needed at the current angle soon enough, but thanks for noticing, and i know that you did not know that the table was 6ft x 8ft barely making it rectangular unless you looked really hard to see the seam in the plywood where a 1/2 sheet meets a full sheet but all the plants are happy with the light they have ATM but bet yer ass I would like more b4 we're through here. this is just a slapped together run i just moved 1 month ago and already have this going on. thanks a lot homie! i Gotz it though.

but may as well get it out b4 others chime in with all the suggestions on my lights. i need the tray so i dont have to worry about run off.. that is more important here with automated feeding

gdawg- thanks man i do like the coco. my last harvest was the nicest to date and i got lockout just b4 flush so it didnt really kill the yeild or anything but ruined some leaves with cal def- i have seen personally results with the head formula and i have ran flora nova series in coco and i like it, but the nova is only good for handwatering IMO and the head form is sweet and easy peasy. but the pbp was already in the bag as i say(i already had it around) first try in coco with it... usually use in soil but try it once what the hell and figure out what to try next. IMO as long as the requirments for the plant are met and i use pk boosters properly and flush well enough i dont care what brands they eat. good light and healthy diet and healthy environmental conditions= dank buds
i agree on the table vs light thing for sure, especially knowing what my plans are and growing area and equip i have lying around. onegreenday obviously did not know these things yet. and yes coco gets watered very thoroughly at my spot and i dont want them sitting in runoff. if i get to much in those lil ass trays they overflow. being some strains drink more than others, and mediums dryness varies from container to container and they all get fed the same amount out of manifold some runoff more than others leading to a big prob for me if 1 overflows. i had it happen once already and luckily i thought to check in on them and caught a few just as they began to spill over. had to cut the time down but is not ideal for heavy drinkers but save mini floods lol. until they get to budding and water uptake increases i have to be carefull about this

Hell yea sir smokes, looks like your on top of your game for sure. You got a killer strain line up as well! GDP purp and GDP blue...are these different cuts/phenos of the GDP? And the memoryloss sounds KILLER. Thanks for stopping by my thread, i appreciate it a bunch.

what type of tray would you suggest to collect the runoff?

I was thinking like an ebb/flood table with all grooves/drains
and collect at the lowest point.

then i could try & recirculate the nutrient for a test.

capo- thanks C for poppin by bro. yes the gdp are different phenos-explained- GDP is clone only.... but after a year of continuosly buying the same dank GDP i got a seeded qp and i am not sure if they were bred, hermied, or what, but i got 3 different and nice phenos from the first batch, kept 2. and any beans i have gifted have turned out outstanding as well. a few on here have grown different phenos from my beans, whether they recieved cuts or beans via somebody lol all i know is the bud they came from is legit GDP and who know where these phenos came from hehe
if you liked those strains here you go, let me list the rest on the table with pics in a sec. sporting a few on there

OGD- no worries man i like to get to the point when possible. that is exactly the type of table i was thinking of buying man, and combined with a coco matt under the bags to collect any particles that escape containers with overflow b4 gettin to the drain. having a screen or filter on the res return line is needed if recirc, and a particle filter to the manifold so you dont clog drippers. i prefer run to waste, but recirculating is a nice way to stretch the nutes. i dont want to deal with ph drifting, although my runoff does get tested occasionally and the ph is usually spot on with what went in so far, so recirc is not out of the ? for the future. thanks for checkin back in bro

Dear Sir, you have fine photo skill also & flowers look fine
and deep color.

Have you test the EC of the waste water after feeding? You said the Ph of
the waste was fine but I wonder about EC.

I just checked my waste EC and it was way up. I have not flushed enough out
of the pots so I must have built up EC.

My feed was not too strong either. I think I just did not get a wash-through on feeding.

OGD- no man i havent checked the PPM but in theory if your plants are feeding the ppm/ec should come out a lil less unless you are rinsing out built up salts. flush with plain a few times to see if that helps... sorry so late but i havent been in here in a min.
