Staggering Harvest vs. All at once

When doing a perpetual style harvest, where you put some in and take some out periodically, is it possible to achieve the same results per plant as you would get by harvesting all the plants at once???

Basically what I am trying to say is… Will it hurt/help/not effect your yield per plant by staggering a harvest????

It probably won't affect the yield. Honestly, I can't see why it would, assuming that all plants are receiving the same amount of lights and care that they would if you harvested them all at once.

I'd say that you, in theory, probably can get a bigger yield when yielding periodically. The reason would be that the biggest plants can get more light as the newly started ones won't take up as much space. This way you will be able to maximize efficiency and fully use your lights at all times.

You won't have much use for your lights in the beginning if you start all you plants at once.

Don't know if I made myself clear. English is not my native language.

Input appreciated. Dunno if my logic is flawed. Just thought of this.

Good luck anyway!

I stagger my harvests. I don't think that it affects the yeild per plant but it does allow me to grow 10 plants in my cab. instead of 8, without over growing my cab.

The staggering perpetual is good idea,The thought is,you can either veg longer have a bigger harvest or veg shorter perpetual and have smaller yields but more frequent harvests. Some say the perpetual overall makes more.
To make the most of it, ya have to have a lots of plants in que of all different sizes .

As they are done you replace.Im finding its hard sometimes to have enough plants to replace what you remove that are big enough to flower. So now the clone trays stay continually full,as clones root new ones are taken from larger in que.

If i end up having more than can fit in the box when replacing ,they just wait and veg longer for bigger yeild. The method doesn't work well for people concerned with plant numbers.Im gonna make that 600 work.

I have a veg room and a bud room.If I have room in bud room I put a plant in from veg room.If a plant is ripe I pick it.Might be one a week might be six.depends on each plant.I start all kinds of seeds so it all depends. This way Im allways smoking something new.

J722 as far as yield i'm not sure because i have always grown perpetual,,,but i totally agree with mickymouse!!!!i have three to four different sets of girls going at all times in flower, with two sets usually waiting in the veg area and i love being able to have a constant flow of bud coming in...i do only one strain when i pop each round of seeds..its cool one month og kush and one month diesel,,,,,,,,a bit of advice,,,labels ,,,label all strains and dates...it rocks... constant bud the perpetual way is the way to go...hope this helps...peace djxx

A continual or perpetual harvest is easier when you are going by plants per week over weight per week. So if you're yielding one plant per week, unless you don't yield a plant on any given Sunday, or start harvesting too soon you're yield won't be effected.

Things you should choose:

1. How long are you going to veg the plants? 30 days? 45 days?
2. What is your initial flowering time? 60 days? 12 weeks?
3. How often should I harvest? 1 time per week? 3 times a month?
4. Am I harvesting by weight or plant count? 52 plants a year? 52 ounces per month?

If you start with 6 females and stick to vegging your seeds and clones according to your veg time, you should always have a plant or two ready to be harvested. I started with 4 females and didn't stick to my vegging schedule and after the next plant is taken, I have a 40 day gap followed by a 20-30 days gap 5 weeks later. I may catch up, but it depends on the number of females in this batch of seeds.

By doing it perpetual, you can veg a replacement clone the entire time you're flowering. This can mean a full size plant is ready to go into flowering as soon as one is harvested. This can increase yield a lot.

staggering is only way i run 2600W HPS and breakit into 3 blocks all 3-4 weeks apart. I Alsp have a minimum of 45 clones at any given day and 30 vegging under 750 watt MH . By doing this I guarantee constant harvest one a month.
