Think I may have found a way to EASILY resize your pics without DLing anything new...

When I open my pic folders using the Windows picture and fax vieweer, I cluck on the little icon at the bottom that says "close program and edit pic"...

At the top toolbar click IMAGE, then STRETCH SKEW

Enter 50% in the HORIZONTAL and VERTCAL boxes, then click OK (pics was 1942x2592, 2.64mb)

Pic is now 972x1272 and 286kb

If I do the above again pic is now 468x648 and 98.8kb

Original :
picture.php

!st reduction:
picture.php

2nd reduction:
picture.php

I had problems uploading pics for a few days...If you only load 2 at a time, resized or not, they load much faster

Hope this helps peeps

Tried this again today...If you look at the size of the pics, by resizing this pic I'm saving 1.6mb per pic...And my resolution is still pretty damn sharp...Multiple this times 30-40 pics and your gonna save a whole bunch space in your galleries/albums...When I upload 2 resized pics at a time they get finished in like 20 secs...I resized 2-3 pics a minute using this method earlier today, quite stoned I must add...Could do more if i really tried easy

My camera pics are like 2.5mb at 2592x1944 with my best resolution...By doing this I can get excellent resolution but in a 98kb file, albiet smaller

I believe Skip's thread stated this feature is only on what your are viewing on that page...If I'm not mistaken, it has nothing to due with uploading files/file sizing...Correct?

Yes, you are correct that our new resizer only works on viewing, it still dls the whole file. So your idea is just fine!

For everyone with large images, think of how much faster your uploads would be if you downsized them first, b4 uploading. You would upload 5-10 times faster, and cut the load on the server, and cut your file storage requirement, thus allowing you to upload many more images.

Ok so I'm not nutz

I did a test by placing regular and resized pics in different folders and compared folder sizes...All pics were the same in both folders

Un-resized folder was 11.7mb or 11700kb

Resized folder was only 472kb

So by resizing I saved 11238kb (11.2mb) on just 5-6 pics

BIG DIFFERENCE

Thanks KG and Skip...Thought maybe I was a little 2 stoned hehe

This is why we encourage ppl to resize their images b4 uploading. It saves space and time for everyone! :)

And if you need to resize many images you can get a photo editor that will do batch conversions, so you can resize all your images at once, and do other things like add a watermark or sig to them too.

I highly recommend that ppl put some kind of signature/watermark on their images to prevent others from using them. Also if you resize your images, at best ppl can only steal your low rez versions, and your original hi-rez versions act as proof of your copyright.

Of course when you post images here, your copyright becomes a public fact, and you can use that posting as proof of copyright cause it would predate any other use (if you post it here first, of course).
