Oscillating fan choice for cabinet

W

Warpainted

I'm hoping someone knows which fan I'm talking, and where to get it.

A while back, I seen a fan mounted inside some display cabinet in Amsterdam.

It was about 8" in diameter, and mounted flush on the wall. It has a grill that rotates which blows air in different directions.

Does anyone know which fan I'm referring to? It sticks out from the wall a few inches, and would be awesome for my cabinet, but now I can't find it.

Thanks

Generally, with fans, it is kind of what can you find in your area. Check and see if you can find what you like close to you, there are many fan name brands, but you are looking for a style of fan. Good luck.

I too am in dire need of a fan for my cab and what the OP describes would be ideal. But at this point any good oscillating fan that would work well in a cab would be fine by me. Any suggestions? I went to Home DePot and they said they don't have any oscillating fans until Spring!

EDIT: As I was typing the above post, I was searching Amazon.com for any good ones. I came across this one and decided to go for it. It looks like it fits the bill; I think I'll mount it on the ceiling of the cab. Watch my grow thread below if you're interested in how well it works out.

Hey guys, I use a Holmes brand oscillating fan and it's been on for the past year and a half and it's still going. I work with cabs too so it was kind of hard finding the perfect fan that didn't take up much space and actually oscillates. That and the price, hydro stores rip you the fuck off. Anyways, it's one of those miniature oscillating clip on ones with 2 speed settings, but it works pretty damn good. I'm not sure how much that'd help you if you're in the Dam but I'm sure you can find something similar at the store or online.

And yeah I use these in 2x4x6 cabs.

Yeah, I got the small holmes oscillating fan. I couldn't find the one I was talking about in any stores, or on the web.

They had non-oscillating fans at Kmart for 10 bucks. I got the oscillating fan 6" ( I think) for like 18.00 plus shipping. So like 23 bucks. I couldn't find it locally since it's winter I guess.

Grainger has good quality wall mount oscillating fans. Why add one more thing in the way when you can hang it on the wall.

The fans i've seen at hydroponics store that your describing usually cost around $80-100, big ripoff imo. Just buy a fan from kmart, walmart, target, homedepot etc. and modify it to mount to the wall(or if your lucky u can find some good sized clip fans)

Yep, been there, done that. I gots love for my mini Holmes though. I just mount them from the holes in the clip and they don't take up shit for space.

i have had many clip on fans and eventually they just stop oscillating, so i said fuck those, now i have just regular oscillating fans and they have stopped oscillating or they just grind louder then my exhaust fans so its like wtf!?!?!? maybe there is some maintenance i can do to these fans to get them to work 24/7 for more then a week or two? i dont care if i have to buy a commercial oscillator to get it to work for longer then a week. peace smoke

I just received the fan I mentioned in my post above. It's a damn fine fan. It doesn't actually oscillate, rather it has a spinning disc on the face of it that's louvered kind of like a jet engine; so it's kind of a simulated oscillation, but it works great! The medium and high settings are a tad loud, but they push a ton of air. The low setting pushes just the right amount of air for my needs (inside a cab), and it's rather quiet.

The one downside is that it's a 10" fan; I was looking for 8". The housing is rather large too, but it mounts sideways on the wall, so it only comes off the wall about 6", and since it doesn't actually oscillate it's actually pretty compact for a 10" fan. It also has a timer, but it isn't digital and only goes up to 90 minutes, so I don't see much of a use for that in my application.

Anyhow, thought I'd give a review. Again, this is pre-cab, but I think it looks promising.

Yeah, I got the small holmes fan, and I don't think it's going to work for my setup. I might have to give that one you linked a try, or another one like it.

Damn, that's too bad man, sorry to hear that. About the grinding and all that shit, just make sure to WD-40 them up every once in awhile. That goes for any fan that's being used for our purposes...
