Thats the truth, markets flooded. I can get #'s of top shelf bud for 1800$.

You don't need to spend much money on starting up a grow. Just get the basics and carry on from there. I think you're probably seeing all of the information in the growing section and overthinking the situation. Just get soil, seeds, some cheap fans and some cheap lights and take it from there, although I advise not skimping out on a carbon filter as this will potentially save your ass. In about 2 years your grow will have evolved from a basic setup to a fantastic project which will have taught you more than you could imagine and have given you more pleasure than MJ alone could give you.
And if you're worried about getting caught, just use your judgment and don't do anything stupid. Don't tell anyone, don't have gaping light leaks all over your box, don't get a 1 bedroom apartment and have a 20,000watt grow in there, etc. Common sense is all it takes to successfully grow your smoke without getting caught.

You can get HPS shop light for 50$, Ikea cab for 70$, nutes and soil for 30$.

there might be someone here with a similar name, primarily because KMK is short for kottonmouth kings, most people know about them. i use kmk0420/kmk420/USED to be SYSTEMOFADOWN on OG.
i know the basics about growing, just not the detailed basics...IE, which soil is the most resourceful and best to grow in now a days, or what method is new and most innovative and resourceful...little things like that...i can even say with the little i know, plain dirt isn't a good medium.
i have NOT smoked "top shelf". now, there was a lot of amsterdam coffeeshop weed that got me toasted, only a few though that i had to sit back and say god damn (new york city diesel, honeybee or something of that sort, amnesia haze..)...where i live, and the "living" situation i'm in make it very tough for me to find a reputable grower/seller of decent bud in the area. ps, the strongest shit i smoked was a 7 gram joint of 7 different 1-gram strains, and also a 2gram joint of super silver haze and caramello hash.

i've checked over a dozen areas within/around my city, of which have different classes of people (high income, low income) and i can tell you this...if you CAN find someone who actually sells chronic (not the bc, not beasters, true CHRONIC) they will either jib/rob you for weight, and/or lie about quality. then, they overprice it TREMENDOUSLY because it's one of those "i know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy" and i get fuckin' middled.
one summer, i will admit, i picked up an ounce of light-green, fluffy, orange-haired bud with a nice stoney mental high...$250. now a days, if you can even find someone, prices range from $4-600 an ounce, and or 50-75/eighth. i cannot afford this. even if it was available, i cant spend that much on weed. i'd rather smoke middies and be straight.
now don't get me wrong..i don't smoke schwagg, dirt, even low grade commercial...the middies i get are a little on the dryer side but nonetheless full buds that get you decently high.
i want to do this right, and that homebox setup i posted about has premade areas/holes where you can bring in new air/exhaust. its premade, perfect size for my situation, why not. plus it's perfect size to flower in, and veg in if necessary.
i'm going to be posting a thread in the growers forum' with my ideas of a setup and ways to plan it out, equipment, etc. i will welcome positive criticism..
