The problem with hydro hut was that it was pvc inside.

But now I am being told steer clear of all 'white plastics'

Is this true? If so that sucks, I liked BW poly. The foylon in my area is a rip pff and doesnt even block light more than 85%.

I'm really glad you asked this as I have been wondering the same thing. I have some B/W poly in two of my cabs and I'm a bit leery about the whole plastic thing now.

Black/white poly is fine, I had a bad hydro hut and habitat that killed everything. Moved into b/w poly lined room with same set-up and no problems.

I don't think PVC or whatever alternative they used in the bad tents was technically the problem, it was some kind of bad softener they used that caused them to off-gas bad stuff.

Black & White poly does use some kind of softener, and thus a bad batch could in theory fall victim to the same problem, but it would be just that - a bad batch made with something alternate and thus not representative of Black & White poly in general.

I'd say the stuff is fine.

Remember too that the PVC in the tents are or were thermally adhered to the canvas exterior and the chemicals that made it pliable were no bueno.

Hi,

Black & white poly is used for many years now and don't ever caused any problem, in my opinion the problem is elsewhere.
