I think ya got stones, brah!

I think ya got stones, brah!

Just checked out the busted grow.
A cryin' shame, that. Nice work!

I'm just an amateur,
but these new kidz look like they are hungry and their feet hurt.
A bit more light wouldn't hurt 'em.
And it wouldn't be a bad Idea to slip a little Calmag into their drinks.

i was thinking N too but the only problem is that they are in Ocean forest. and look how young they are! no way they already used up all the N in the soil. but what the hell... i guess ill start feeding them a low strenght lucas formula.

what do you think. 150 ppms?????

weezard,
yeah, as you can see this time around, it has got to be a lil more stealthy. but fuck the popos. i like growing. i find peace in it. cause lord knows the rest of my life aint peacefull.
and why calmag? no calcium or magnesium deficiency showing???

I've been noticing something. When I have plants in pots that size too early, they fill the bottom and sides out. It was suggested to me in another thread that I pot them up just in tiny increments, but I am finding that you can actually pull the plant out, shake dirt out of the roots carefully, or even wash them gently. Then you put some new fresh soil in the bottom and place the plant back in. They seem to love it as long as the new soil is moist enough. Should be like a rung-out sponge. This avoids needing to transplant up to bigger pots so much. You keep forcing the root mass to be more compact. It tricks the plant into thinking it has more space suddenly. I am going to be doing this from now on it worked so well.

Hmmm. Sounds at the least an interesting concept. However, last time I checked which was a few days ago, the roots weren't filling the pot yet. But I'll check again and give it another go around. I also fed em a 150 ppm lucAs formula watering last night.

I heard the same thing. Last time it came true :) gotta do it again!

No need to waste your space with pots that size man. I'm aiming to finish mine in 8 inch pots, with a maximum plant height of 38" from the top of the pot. Totally doable. I've added coco coir to my mix finally and that should help too. If you don't have any I recommend it. I love how I can't over-water them anymore, no matter how often I water them. The only thing I can do is wash out nutrients by watering too often. No more drowning roots though.... Plants the size you have could be grown in party cups all the way from start to finish. I have noticed most people seem to recommend way more dirt than is actually necessary. I wish I had known better early on. I wasted a lot of space, time, and money filling up 5 gallon buckets with soil. I'm going to be doing a lot of experiments this grow with reducing planter size. The best place for info like that is often the SOG community. They grow huge numbers of plants in the same area most grow a few, so they really need to focus on small planters. I think DrBud uses 20oz pop bottles and the small size plastic coffee cans. Doesn't take much.
