Riseups' Stealth Dresser

Hey, this is my, um, dresser.

135891.jpg

You know, for clothing and stuff. Got some stencil work on there, but still doesn't look out of place. Some shoe boxes and stuff on the top.

Hey, but, what is this ?

135892.jpg

It's about 33 inches deep, 23 inches high and 30 inches wide.

For now i've got 3 30W cool white CFLs, tomorrow I'm putting in 3 more cfls, thus I'll have 180W of CFLs in there. And a reflector too.

135893.jpg

The original intention was to run a 150W HPS in there, but it got a little bit too hot on my test runs, so until I make some sort of cooltube or air-cooled reflector, this will do.

I made this cab out of an old dresser, I hollowed out the drawers, left only the front planks(?), which I nailed together.

The bottom drawer is still functional, so I will be able to pull the plants out easily, the drawer also functions as a light trap, didn't have to make too much effort to make intakes, they were already there.

Then I painted the inside white, that didn't came out too well, since I was in a bit of a hurry and applied the paint not too evenly. Lightproofing it was a pain in the ass, but somehow I managed to get that done, the front "panel" is removable and held by four furniture-magnet-thingies.

The outtake is handled by the cheapest bathroom fan I could find, which, surprise, surprise, was loud as fuck when I bought it home from the store. So I had to figure an effective way to silence it, and so I did. I really couldn't take any decent pics, but I have to rework it a bit, I'll take some pics when I do that. I silenced the sound with 2 mufflers on both sides of the fan, that i made out of plumbing thermo-isolation pipes, the ones that are basically pipes made out of rockwool - cheap and easy, and muffle really good. And the whole fan is wrapped in a sleeping bag and hidden behind the drawer. It still needs some work, as I did it kind of sketchy, but is does make a LOT of difference - before the fan was like a vacuum cleaner, now it is barely noticeable, about the same noise as a running computer. Speaking of computer fans, there also is a 12V DC fan blowing air at the plants.

I originally intended to order feminized seeds and do a scrog, but I got high before ordering(big mistake there), and assumed that all 5-packs are feminized on the site I was ordering from. So I ordered an unfeminized Delta 9 Stargazer, which came with a freebie pack of Original Haze X Skunk. That kind of messed with my plans.

But anyway it's all good - my new plan is to veg these babies for about 2-3 weeks, then put them on flower, hope for a few females and then LST them.

Currently I have - 5 Stargazers and 5 OH x S and about 15 bagseeds which I'll try to germ and see what happens - not hoping on much from the bagseeds tho - they look kind of green mostly, don't look ready, but I'll see what happens.

Peace,
R

looks like a sweet start! i wanted to do the same to my dresser but i built a smaller cab im about to start in soom. KEEP IT UP!!!

I love how the front comes off. I still have to work on the back of mine ,the velcro stops being too sticky after a few repeated openings.
Looks good tho, I want a bigger dresser already.

you didnt fuck up as bad as you think, clone your plants and polinate some for some seeds, you will be able to keep those strains for life then :)

You use magnets to hold the front closed? Did I read that right? If so props thats a great idea. Im dong a small mother chamber 4ht x 3spd x 2deep and I will use that method if its working with that weight. Thanks for the idea.

Just got the rest of the CFLs wired and running.

The temps got a bit higher, but not too much to worry about - about 77F.

One seedling died on me and two didn't germinate. That leaves me with 7 plants right now, 5 stargazers and 2 OH x S.

About 20 bag-seeds were put between paper towels to see how many will germ. Judging from the bud i found them on, it is some heavy indica, which is nice.

Nice cab, the fan I was thinking about using is also loud as fuck and I would love to silence it. How did you do it?

I'll probably do a tutorial on that, with pictures in a few days, when I take it out of the back to do some improving. I don't think that I could explain it too well with words, as english is not my primary language ;)

I only grow at winter, as at summer I'm rarely at home, so keeping clones / mother plants is not for me. I'll probably do this grow and one more run with some Mandala strains, that should produce enough to keep me satisfied through the summer.

But you gave me an idea, I might just pollinate one branch to get some seeds and do a guerilla style grow with the seeds outside.

Yes, you read that right. They are special magnets for furniture, I bought them at a home depo type store.

Is there a hinge on the bottom, or does the entire front panel come off?

riseup, that's a sweet setup you got yourself going there. Props for making the plan, and doing what you had to do to execute it. Looking forward to see those babies do their thing :canabis:

Hey everyone, thanks for the bigups. I don't have any pics to show yet, but the babies are growing well.
Only one of the bagseeds germinated and I have a feeling it won't last too long, but no worries there - I have 7 plants, hopefully I'll get at least one NLxSkunk female and a few stargazer females, that should about be enough for the space I'm working with.

The bottom drawer stays in place, the rest comes off, no hinges.

Peace,
R.

Hey, sorry for the lack of updates, I've been busy working on other stuff.

I have 3 stargazer females out of 5 seeds, not too bad.

They're about 5 weeks into flowering, their smell is strong, I've managed to get that a little under control with a diy carbon filter, but still there is a noticable scent in the room.

Yeah! +rep for the magnet idea. I was thinking velcro, but I really wanted something stronger. This is probably it.

Nice dresser!
