''These forests are being used to cultivate poison'' -Drug Czar

I nearly spilled my drink when he said that.

There was a lot of BS and media manipulation in this show but overall it was decent.

Thought it was pretty good!
I have to laugh though, all the "negative" arguments made, to me at least seemed like legalizing marijuana would make them positive or non existent!
Houses burning down 'cause of illegal grow setups?
What if someone didn't have to hide what they were doing, or could call in an electrician to wire everything up?
Pollution from diesel generators powering growhouses?
What if they could just use the electricity from the electric company without having to worry that it would get them busted?
I thought it was insane when the guy (forget his name) who started "Oaksterdam" said that they pay 700,000 dollars a year in taxes!!! Imagine the $$$ the gov't would get from taxes if there were places like that all over the country!
Clearly part of the reason its so much $$$ is supply vs. demand, so if it were legal and there were more growers and stuff, the $$$ would be spread out to a bunch of smaller operations (or at least I'd imagine) and I imagine the money the government would get would be the same or even higher maybe.
And the whole thing with guns and stuff... if it were legal, people wouldn't NEED guns that were involved in large operations.
I've got family in the tobacco industry, and they have guns, for hunting, not self defense.

I know we're all gonna have the same feeling, but other people may feel differently, but it seems so clear and obvious that 99% of the NEGATIVE parts of the marijuana industry would be virtually ELIMINATED, and some of them even turned into beneficial additions to the economy and the government as well as society, if marijuana was legalized.

For those that missed it, it will be on again on SUNDAY i believe, but at a different time. (I wanna say 5:00 est, but I could be wrong...)

Doesn't bring anyone new info to the cannabis savy but I think the helicopter pilot at the end said it all " I would say no we are not winning". Seemed like the positive segments out weighed the negative ones. They haven't the direct truth yet but they are making way.

I tuned in and things weren't bad and then all of the sudden people moving out of town because of pot, guns, fires, dealers, destruction. It always blows my high when they start
cutting down the plants.

I guess they don't realize the criminals are a direct result of their war. That drug czar continues to spew that bullshit but they aren't fooling anyone.

This type of show is good to reflect on because it illustrates the degree of illiteracy that the general public enjoys regarding marijuana on any level. When the reporter was in the medical dispensary and was asked to smell the different varieties, you can see there's a sense of complete unfamiliarity with the entire culture. The lack of knowledge regarding the plant in general, coupled with the lay public's erroneous views is a rather great hurdle to overcome in the process of legalization. It also doesn't help that negative stereotypes are being developed regarding the mishandling of public lands, dumping of toxic materials, and crime in general.
There will be serious work ahead of us in the context of education, public awareness and social integration to get where we want to all go: legalization/decriminalization.

I saw it too, and roor, it'll be repeated at 1:00 am ET

I was happy with it overall... you really can't expect ANY major media outlet to clearly stand for legalization, but they DID have the nads to show it in a light that lets people decide for themselves. It's truly a billion dollar a year industry, and it seems our politicians only understand Ben Franklinese. I heard the message loud and clear.

I have yet to watch it. Will be on in an hour for me. I bet the reporter thought they might get high by smelling it. Then how could they look the wife and kids in the eye. Lack of education pure and simple.
