What's new

what other than skunk#1 to increase yield outdoors?

i was wondering this.

skunk# has succesfully been used in many crosses to increase yield

afghan x skunk1 - big bud, warlock, chronic etc
hindu kush x skunk1 - Pot Of Gold, golden skush etc ( had a pog that had mold inside at 65% humidity)

but those crosses are more suited for indoor use as skunk seems to be not very mold resistant in outdoor crosses, atleast where im at 56 northerne latitude

any ideas on what ro use instead of skunk1 for somewhat early mold resistant crosses?

i tried once
hindu kush x Leb27
a little late and a little mold but yield was impressive'

leb27 has a ranging potency from below to above average but its mold resistant and increases yield in outdoor crosses

maybe Afghan x leb27 could be the new outdoor version of Chronic, Warlock we in the north have been waiting for?
maybe not, time will tell

other suggestions for replacement for skunk#1 in outdoor crosses where mold is an issue due to bad weather?

i guess theres many if your not looking for yield but im looking for a high yield as an outdoor commercial strain one could maybe stabilized and use for further breeding later

Early skunk might be a good en to use, gerrit from magus used a F2 in biddy early and there's some real early phenotypes, some start flowering just before the summer solstice and are ready from late aug/early sept if you start them from late march to mid april.
Mighty mite might be worth a look in to.

yeah i was pretty impressed by the hindu kush outdoors ... would have suggested it as well!
if there is any sense in crossing a sativa into it, i would take a look at the TNR ... supposed to be one of the outdoor monster plants

Skunk was crossed with Afghan..this is sensi`s BigBud......but it was the Afghan that was used to increese the yeald of Skunk..."i think"

i think you want a Durban or PowerPlant...."mega quick sativa , mega mold resistance, big yeald"

did u get good results with durban poison?
i made the experience last year that the buds it produced werent dense at all and so my yield wasnt good as well, and so was the potency. but it was finished about end of august!

Mexican, a good early Mexican would seem an excellent choice for breeding the types of plants you're looking for.

if you can get a clone of the old sssc m-33 friesland indica this will be the ultimate plant to x with .

friesland grow in very northen location where season is short . friesland is the pound plant with a strong taste and a powerful high for an outdoor produced plant . northern ontario/quebec is what i call north in this case .

grapepunched

yielding outcrossers i can think of:

afghani landrace
mexican landrace
hazes
purepowerplant
south indian landrace
thai

as far as short flowering times go,
probably the more indica of the ones
i mentioned...

maybe also:

hawaiiain strains
northern lights
big sativas like mothership

I was given Early Skunk f2´s when I visited the AMEC headquarters :D in Madrid,1999.
We grew those and were quite good. One cutting from one of the girls was grown in a big bucket in a glasshouse, and produced the biggest and thickest buds I´ve ever seen :D

tnx for all the good input

ill definitely look more into the Sensi Early Pearl and Early skunk
also i have some Mexican Sativa from Sativa Seedbank that might come in handy for breeding

the Nordic afgahn i have to gether with Mazar i sharif also should be good although a little late but the nordic afghan has shown very good potency although the yield could be bigger
maybe some crossing could improve that cause it already have both the potency and the mold resistance

afghan, MIS, leb27, mexican sativa, early skunk and others sure have some potential outdoors used in various combinations

actually i think i came up with the idea that Afghan nordic/mexican sat x leb27 could maybe become a equivalent to Early skunk?
offcourse there would have to be some selection in the Afghan for yield and some in leb27 for potency but i think it might have some potential
not Skunk#1 or Early skunk but Skunk#Nordic ;)

Hi Gunnarguchi, I will try to do a cross btwn your Afghan with Leb27 then search into the F2 a good girl with the ghani potency and bud form, but with large Leb colas plenty of hairs. And I will cross with another fast sativa, as Colina said, a fast trippy Mexican will be top.

I made a similar cross, Tom Hill's Deep Chunk x Lebanese "Bekaa Valley".

I planted only one F1 ( the seed pop in the DC bud LOL), and I've got a girl. This girls, has grown more as a Lebanese sativa type, but during flowering period, the ghani appeared forming hard nugs plenty of resin with more chunky aroma, in the other hand, the flowers formation was more into the Lebanese side, forming thousands of litle calyxes with long stigmas. This girls hasn't got any problem with mold or spidermite.

.

sounds like a brilliant idea RP!

Leb 27 has large yields but could surely benefit from the afghani potency and nugs and the afghani could benefit with increased yield

afghani x leb27 could turn out to have outdoor "Chronic" opportunities

Uhm, unless you guys are talking about another Durban...
Sensi, Dutch Passion, Nirvana have it and at least another 3 have Early Durban listed.

I read an article somewhere online before that tested the Durbans from several seed banks and apparently Dutch Passion's version is the only one worth bothering with..Anyone else read that article??It could have been on CannabisCulture...Damn its pissin me off lol

@Gunnarguchi

Whats the flowering period of the Leb27?

Another good strains for outdoor growing and breeding are

Viking, finish within 6 weeks between mid to end September

43876DSC000501-med.jpg

Highland Oaxacan, finish within 8 weeks, end Sept/1 week Oct

43876Curandero-med.jpg

Both strains are good resistant against molds, even in rainy areas like The Netherlands, UK or Vancouver region.

The yields are average to good, depends how large they are.

Namaste :canabis:
