Vacant house check uncovers unclaimed water bong

Oxford police performing a vacant house check during the holiday break wound up discovering a colorful, yet illegal decoration.

Officers reported finding the front window of a South Campus Avenue house unlocked on Jan. 2, entering the residence to secure the window and ensure no criminal activity was taking place inside. During a routine search of the home, police said they found an orange water bong sitting in plain view in an upstairs closet.

The bong, which reportedly contained what appeared to be marijuana residue, was confiscated after officers finished checking the remainder of the house for signs of burglary.

An officer returned to the residence on Jan. 11 in an attempt to find the bong's owner, but report a resident said he was unsure who it might have belonged to in the house. A police investigation into the owner of the bong continues.

wow, I really hope the cops find the culprit. Maybe you guys missed the whole point to the story, but there was residue in the bong!! This is a national crisis! I hope they move the case on to the feds, and let the real professionals find the sick and twisted Marijuana user.

WTF!!! So the day after new year's the police go around and check (seems to be campus houses) to see if they are empty? What the hell does that accomplish? Most students will not be there. A window was unlocked so the police just enter the house?
And since when does a house get routinely searched? WOW I would sue the pigs, unlawful search anyone? This just screams it!

Seems especially surprising, and crazy, since it is decriminalized in OH. Lots of effort for a $100 citation.

Oops, I'm wrong. Up to 4 oz of weed is a $100 fine. A bong however will get you up to 30 days and a $750 fine. I guess it's more serious than I thought.

Search warrant nets Oxford police nine crack pipes

Oxford police reported seizing nine different crack pipes during the search of a College Corner Pike residence early last week.

Officers executed a search warrant at XXXXX College Corner Pike #XX on Jan. 6, uncovering a hefty amount of drug paraphernalia in the process. In addition to the nine pipes found inside of the apartment, officers reportedly confiscated a plastic straw with white residue on it, a package of rolling papers and several unidentified pills.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, were both in the residence during the search and were subsequently arrested for the various items of drug paraphernalia. Seta and Foster were issued citations for drug paraphernalia and were released on their own recognizance.

lived in ohio for 50 years you dont get charged with possesion its drug abuse unless you're rich or a snitch my kid 21 busted for 1 gram got 500 in fines 6 months in jail 5 years probation lost his job manditory urine test every month all for a joint i've smoked for 35 years and cant think of anyone who has been charged with simple possesion my best friend got busted with a roach and 1 ripped paper he had a prior conviction 15 years ago he got 3 years the funny thing is the judge that sent them has 4 dwi convictions aint justice great
