Should I transplant or wait a day or two?

I have 6 satori clones in 9qt trash cans,18 days in flower.Six days ago i gave them 7ml of flora nova bloom (one part). They are 18'' tall and very rootbound.I veged about6-7 weeks. There under a 400 watt hps and some cfls,temps78-82.When the light came on today i notice quite abit of yellowing(still early)its a 65 day strain.I pull one plant out of the pot;the roots were wraped around bottom of pot and about 3-4''from the top on sides.I dont want to put them in large pots(dont want loose buds).Ive grown this strain before and if i dont transplant i will lose a ton of yeild. So my idear is put all plants in 5 gal buckets but only put about 1'' of soil on bottom then just fill in the sides(i figue about 1 extra gallon maybee 1 1/2 gallons of soil). What do you think good plan.Feedback welcome.Stay Safe!!PS if you need pics I can get them.

well you certainly dont want to increase the pot size too much.

You are on the right track with just going a size bigger, but will it really make a difference giving them one more inch?

Whatever you decide to do; do it fast you dont want to go much longer, as it will really effect your yield if you go much past 3 weeks before transplanting

But as DJ said bigger roots. bigger buds!!

I've done Satori too - yummy yummy plant! ;-D

1 - They're not 65 day plants - even when flowered from sexual maturity. I'd give them at least 75 days. If not, then more. They really pile it on in the last few weeks :)

2 - If you transplant them within 2-3 weeks of the 12/12 cycle, then you'l probably see significant root growth... I've no experience of transplanting later than that! ;)

3 - If you have limited vertical space then consider LSTing during the stretching phase. I tried this last time and it filled the grow space very nicely! - my fav pic below: - except it doesn't seem to be available here on the new website! LOL!

Thanks for all the feedback.I put 4 of them in 5 gal bucket and the other two I planted together in a 10 gal tote.Pompey I know it can go longer then 65days,I let them go 70days.You said you let them go 75 days, was it still an up high at that point?I really like a nice up high, indica at night puts me out fast.Stay Safe!!

Oh yes! - I've just grown a load of northern lights - very powerful stuff, but nothing like the sweet heady high of the Satori!

I've always found that plants take a good 10-14 days longer than the vendor states. Maybe I'm just not that good at growing! :yoinks:

Not sure what happened to my pic - I'll try again!

bugbud,

Thanks for the compliment! :)
That's 3 Satori (Mandala Seeds) vegged for a week under 150W fluro after poking through the soil, then vegged for about another three weeks under a 400W HPS before switching to 12/12 under the same light for about 7 weeks.

The final 4 weeks of flowering were under a new 600W Sunmaster dual spectrum HPS. They loved it!

I got about 300g plus lots of fluffy stuff off of the 3 babies. :woohoo:

Right now I've just put two clones of the mother of all Satori plants into flower in the same space - it's filling nicely!

Here's the mum:
