how do i get bigger lower buds (upper too for that matter)

got some pics here of a plant that has amber trics and trics that just have fallen down off the hair. doesn't that mean it's time to pull it?
it went 12/12 on 11/30 so its at 6 weeks. it seems like all these plants (whatever they are) are taking 6 wks to go amber. but seems like still too many green leaves on it. what can i do to get the buds under the top, on the same branches that go to the top, to get bigger, rather than these ittty bitty little buds that almost arn't worth trimmin off'n the branch. this sux.

here is the plant i just had to cut. the tops are okay (yeah, i know they suck, but at least they are sellable. but look at the little ones underneath the top:



my friend has spread the plant open so you can see under the tops. see all the little buds. they haven't grown to squat!


would tying these tops of branches down to the top of the pot make them bigger? co2? anything? let them keep growing for another two weeks? (8 total- but them the tops of the trics would all fall down wouldn't they and the others that didn't would all be amber or too old, no?)HHHHELP!

Let them go as long as possible and next grow you should trim some of the lower budsites off a week into 12/12, thus allowing your plants to devote all energy to created prime top buds.

i grow under CFL's and i have to or the little buds (as you said) aren't even worth trimming off.
with LST i get nugs that are all close to the same size as the cola.

i have just read all 17 pages of Chefs thread and am going to do just like that. yeah, i guess i will trim them off. and not let them get so tall either.

^^^ this person speaks the truth!!! LST is your best bet, OR considering that you have some tops that are already to go, what you could do is cut the ready tops down and leave the "popcorn buds" on the plant and just let them go some more.

depending on what your rootballs look like, if anything, you may have to trim some soil from the bottom of the root ball, add new soil to the pots and essentialy "repot" the plants. once you repot them in about 2wks time you should see the new growth and those popcorn buds will be viable buds in no time.

they are already in flower at 12-12 so no need to do any switching of light or anything like that. just water with your regular regimen and things will be fine.

i did a repot on my first grow and it was the bet thing i could have done, this grow i got alot of popcorn buds but i plan to make some honey oil again so no need to repot this time.

hopefully someone else who has done a repotting and have seen the results can tell you what im talking about. but remember more soil means more roots, more roots means bigger plants and bigger buds!!!



EDIT: this thread is exactley what im talking about : "SIZE DOES MATTER" . this is pretty much all the research youll need on the matter.

LMAO!! holy shit dude, talk about coincidence! lol honeslty due, i forgot what LST stands for, but what it basicaly is, is tieing your side and longer branches down so that your smaller branches will reach for the light and eventually become branches themselves.

now that shit really puts on the wieght BUT it takes alot longer to train the older the plants are.

thanks for the info on the re growth of the plants. i think i will try it cause really there is nothing to lose. i would try to do the lst, but i am switching over to putting my plants straight into flower at 12" or less. so now i have a pile of plants to put into the flower room, so i don't have the space to donate to the lst'ed plants

That actually is what i am kinda sorta doing. i put my plants in question up higher on boxes to get the light to shine sideways into the lower buds.

my grow last year had small budsites on the bottom i just leaned the pot over and rotated it everyday but having lights on the side and under should help out

have you seen a phototron? its an enclosed fixture surrounded by cfls
it does pretty damn well for autoflowering strains
