I usually grow in hydro, but Im gonna try and make a run at a SOG is soil. Im looking at Fox Farm Ocean Forrest for my soil. Then I was gonna follow the AN feeding schedule "light feeding" using 3 part with Big Bud, Carboload & Overdrive. Any input would be great.

Hey Max. I would just say to lighten up the FFOF with perlite before use. The fox farm is pretty hot and can burn up seedlings. I learned this switching from hydro too. Good luck!

I would agree with smokn1. Ocean Forrest is hot. I'm a hydro person and just switched over to soil for a grow or two. I just planted 30 of my OE seeds and let me tell you. I almost nuked them. I had to flush a few times and they are now coming back. Be very careful with this soil.

I would not feed for a while any ways. The guy at the hydro store. Told me not to feed for about the first three weeks. I would just use PH water and then keep an eye on them. Good luck and keep them green

Thanks for the info. I am actually going to be starting from clone's. Super Skunk is the winner this go around up 2000k should be a good one. SS always treats me nice, it will be a sealed room with Co2. Im building beds and growing them is 5" deep soil!!

Even with clones, FFOF will still burn them up if you don't lighten it up some. But I have heard of SS being real tolerant to nutes so see what happens. GL

Sweet! Sounds like a plan to me. Make sure you post us a link. Never grew in a bed before. Send plenty of them, but always been hydro. Tomorrow, I'm heading down to the hydro store to pick up some more soil. Need to transplant about 10 plants into 2 gallon containers. Think I'm going to get this other stuff. Guy was showing me this other organic stuff they carried. Might give it a whirl and see how it does.

Good luck with your room. I'm sure with the 2K your running. You should be around about 2-4lbs. All depends how wired your grow is.
Take care,
BG

what i would do is pick up some bud blood, its from an you feed it the first week of flowering. I use big bud on some of my crops and found it burns real easily cause its potent stuff (that or leaf curling) but some of me thinks its bc i didnt use bud blood first like AN suggests.......other than that the big bud and overdrive are awesome bloom enhancers.

FFOF user here. maybe you hydro guys are just more used to introducing nutes early?

I have used this forever, and after a week or two from cloning, i nute, water, nute, water every day and get fine results.

Check out my grow thread. I started with Foxfarm Light Warrior for my seedlings. Then 50/50 Light Warrior and Ocean Forest with some additional perlite for potting up my young plants. Then Ocean Forest with perlite for mature plants. I am only feeding with a little Liquid Karma in veg and plan on using Big Bloom in flower. The Ocean Forest already has enough for plants. Check out my plants. Do you think they really need more nutes? They are literally growing like weeds. If you add too many nutes, you get "the claw", nute lock out, yellowing, lots of stuff. You don't bombard your plants with nutes, just give them just enough and keep them wanting more. They'll let you know if they need anything extra.

thats what i do except i mix in some perlite with the ff soil and i use the 3 part from GH because its the same as AN but cheaper and instead of big bud i use liquid kool bloom and carbo load. i dont use overdrive but i do use molases and a drop of superthrive. I also use senzisym.

You hit the nail on the head. I'm so use to jumping into feeding them. Well, with all the stuff in the soil and then me dosing them. WOW, they freaked the fuck out. lolol. Everything is coming back to normal. Learned a big lesson with this stuff. Thanks for the help and info all.
Take care,

Hey MaxYield, have you considered using the Moonshine Mix soil recipe?

Here is a quote from the thread if you haven't seen it
"Here is a quote from MSMan.....
"Lookin good....the mix is super simple...you can use it from seed to flower it just doesnt need the dry ferts (peace of mind) early on.....Watering is the Key to this mix...overwater and youll see all sorts of weird "nute def" poppin up....let it dry completely and the probs disappear......the Current mix goes a lil sumthin like this...
(bag of each)
Ocean Forest
Planting Mix (guano/castings)
Light Warrior
Black Gold
Coco Brick(small brick)
1 cup peace of mind (for flower)
2- 5 gal buckets worth of perilite....
And the LARGE Chunky Perilite...RULES....small perilite packs down over time ...the large perilite creates huge air pockets for the roots to grow through....over the last 3 yrs anytime I have gone back to the small diameter perilite my plants SUFFER and yeilds diminish.....You have to try the stuff to understand and even then you may not comprehend (like me) the benefits the large core peri makes.....great stuff....
Romulator has been usin my mix for a couple of yrs now and he is like me always tinkering and tweakin the mix...but in the end its the core 3 bag fox farm mix that makes this shit work....
my only "additives" Id tell anyone to try would be "Fish Mix" from biobizz for a lil boost in veg and Advanced Nutes "Moter Earth Super Tea" for a lil boost on day 25-30 for LARGE plants ......But honestly the mix dont need nuthin....
Keep up the good work....." "

And here is the url if you want to see results: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=23970

Good luck, Che

Thanks for the link Che. I read up on it and it really looks great, the only downside is that formula is not designed towards yield. I am really looking to get a nice yield but dont want to suffer quality. I am leaning towards mixing FFOF with the other 2 bags of FF soil that is mentioned. Then when buds start appearing adding very light doses of Big Bud and very very light doses of GH 3 part. See where that brings me........and input on this mix would be great...also will be using bottled spring water as my tap water is very hard @ 450ppm....sucks

I use FFOF and about 50% pearlite or enough that when I water I end up with the top layer is all pearlite I was told it keeps the soil from compacting during watering also allows the mix to absorb faster and I havent seen any burning and I have allways fed between waterings

FFOF soil is great never burne a seedling or clone from fresh soil only from re cycled FFOF have a burnt and or killed them.

seelings in FFOF soil

seedlings other day transplanted up few days ago

clones in bubbler

clones along with seedlings in FFOF soil

plants 15 days into flowering in 1 gal bags and FFOF soil

yepper nothing wrong with FFOF soil i allways open the bag and then pour bag into a 32 gal trash can and mix soil throughly by hand. then i use it the 1st watering i give established plants is plain PH'd @ 6.5 the next watering is nutes. depending on size and age of plant depends on the dossage

the ferts being used are
Pure blend pro grow/bloom
powdered kool bloom
diamond necture

i alternate the feedings 1 plain watering next is ferts next is plain so on so forth being sure the waters PH is 6.5. at 1st it wont matter but later it will FFOF is PH ballanced 5.5-6.5 but watering like we do in soil the ballance falls. thats why water with or w/out ferts in potted soil should be 6.5, when i water i water untill runoff is achieved then move to next plant. when all have been watered i go smoke a cig then come back and place plants back into flower chamber. i remove my flowring plants 1st 2-3 wks allows to re adjust when placing back in and to look at the girls. after 3-4 wks most plants have drain pans and dont move untill chop, my plants after being extablished require watering every other day.

cal mag isnt needed because my tap water contains enough to sustain the plants n/p. ive used liquid karma and sweet both very good products i just dont have them this run liquid karma {humic acids } and diamond necture {fulvic acid} combined have the root growth explode.

i have no experince with AN nutes just
Fox Farm grow big big bloom tiger bloom
Pure blend pro grow and bloom
liquid karma
diamond necture
sweet
General Hydrophonics flora series in coco which i just ran for a few runs i need to build a rez and re circulating system then i'll go back to coco and never turn away !
i havent used a PH meter except twice to check my estimations in over 1 yr. i was very happy with coco am very comfy in FFOF soil :rasta:
i know my waters PH with or with out ferts i know at what dossage of ferts how much PH down will be required to attain 6.5
