What's new

5' x 7' flower room

Ok, in previous grows I've used a single 40" x 54" room for flowering...

and vegging with a 1000w light. I'll now be using that room for vegging only, and constructing a 5' x 7' room for flowering. There's only about 6' of vertical space in my basement, and I'm trying to get the design down in my head.

I was planning on moving the 1000w light to the new room, and buying a 400w light for the veg room. I'm considering getting a light mover.

I'll likely be putting in a window ac unit that I already have, and venting up my chimney like I did with the veg room.

My veg room is already filling up (white russian, blue mystic, snow dog, and others) and I really need to get started immediately. I'll post pics of the veg room, and the space when I've finished clearing the area out tomorrow.

My rig is a bit more than 5 x 7, and I use two 1K's, works nice, You could do one K on a mover. Try it and see what you think. Can you handle another K?

even with a light mover 1kw seems low for 5'x7'

4'x5' = 20 sq ft = 50w per square foot with 1kw

a light mover will help you lower your light but doesn't make too much of a difference in area you can cover.

I'd say 2 x 600w for that 5'7 space on a mover would be tons and tons better than 1kw on a mover.

Hmm, I thought 50w/square foot was the high end. I thought 35w/square foot would be enough?

I was actually considering two 600w but I'm trying to keep costs down.

Actually A light MOVER will help tremendously with effective footprint. I do believe you are thinking of Light RAISERS - moving the light up and down. However, what he is referring to is light MOVERS that move a light side to side on a rail, most rails come in standard 6 ft sections with attachable extensions. There are also the ones that move the light in a circular motion, and you can add up to four lights - one on each arm of the criss cross bars. A light mover will not make a 1K light equivalent to two, but it will make it like 1.5+ ! The only problem you run into when moving across a long narrow space with one light is that while the light is at one end, the other end has very low lumens.......but then in about 15-20 minutes that shoe will be on the other...............plant?

Hope this helped, if not oh well!

I am currently debating whether to install a light mover for my new cab's 600 (4 X 5.5 X 7 closet I made) or just to buck up and go 1200 cab. The 1200 would crank out the buds, but also the heat........

I ended up going with the 1k on a light mover. It's been working very nicely. Maybe I'll take some pics of what I have going tomorrow.

I think a 1K on a mover will be perfect for 5x7.

I have a 600w and a 1k on a mover (diy 2 light mount) in a 6x10. I'm happy I went with the mover as I can use 2 600's instead of 2 1k's. I'll be swapping the 1k for another 600w lumatek soon. Hopefully....

does anyone know of someone hacking a light mover to move a measured piece of chain or string to raise and lower a vertical light to allow better low penetration?

Clide - A hook on the ceiling or frame, with a dog cable through it makes a vertical light mover, manual.
