due to security concerns and lack of space i had to cut the buds off of the plant before i had a chance to let it hang and dry. what is the best way to dry and cure the buds now that they are loose from the plant. any help is GREATLY appreciated.

i use racks or baskets lay buds over rack put small fan on them in a closet for 4-6 days then into the jars and burped everyday for 10 minutes first week...then 2 times per week 2nd week instead of everyday...thats all

I use a cardboard box with string at the top, like a clothes line, which i hang the buds from.

I cut holes at both sides of the box at the bottom, and attach a PC fan to one of them for airflow. It is important that there is a small amount of air flow, but not directly across the buds, as they will dry too quickly, which locks chlorophyll (sp?) in the buds, giving them a horrible leafy taste.

The box is relatively lightproof, and kept in a cool cupboard, as light and heat degrade THC, and cooler temperatures help slow the drying process, which gives a better tasting end result.

Note that if you dry too fast, the weed will taste leafy, but if you dry too slow, you increase the risk of bud rot occuring.

After the bud is dry (when the stems become brittle and easy to snap), i place them in jars, and follow the same burping schedule that littlebud described.

You will probably have to experiment a bit to find a method that works well for you. If you get it right first time, you are very lucky. :)

If they aren't dry already, you can simply use a needle and thread and thread it through the stems/buds and let it hang to dry:

Once they're sufficiently dry, pop 'em in a nice, sealed bottle and you can begin the cure.

Good luck in your travels and happy new year!

Walmart sells a rack that is meant for holding kids toys I think. Its pretty much plastic and netting. It works amazing :D

Reading this thread helped me figure out what to do with my current dry. I am afraid of mold so I cut them off the stems for the first time ever. Thanks.

a window screen with frame, laying on something to allow air to get underneath and up through the screen/harvest.

like others have said,,, a screen will be your best bet. just make sure if you use one of the screens in your window,,, you AT LEAST wash it first..... :joint:

Oven dry. Pilot light only.

:)

As long as it isn't a hot day, it takes about 4 to 6 days for them to dry while hanging in there.

Plenty of CO2 and a bit of moisture to boot.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

Oh yeah, dont' forget to tell yer babe you've got the buds in the oven or she'll preheat and the stove chimney will be the only one to smoke your harvest :(
