Stuck with grandular dolomite lime.

I couldn't get it in powdered form. Something about shipping it. I went to 2 store that usually carry the powdered and they were all out and could order it. I am using this more for the cal/mag than the ph stabilizing.

Is is still worth mixing into my organic coco mix?

YES!

I had the same problem, but with a little patience I had what I was looking for. Take some of the pellets and put them into a round container. Next take a ho, or other flat object with a handle and grind it up. Do this in small batches and the finished product will be close to flour grade. You might have to pick out the leftovers but it works in a pinch.

I use to work alot with plasters, and alot of them contain lime slag. In having to sand some of the plaster finishes between coats I have breathed in my fair share of lime.. Any old timers I ever met that worked with plaster as a profession had leather for hands.. Check out masons, their hands are about the same.....I'm not dead, but if it can turn your hands into a brillo pad, it cant be good for your lungs...

Wear amask and grind it up , it'll be fine in the mix...

I took the bottom of a cement stepping stone and ground up on a cement slab a few cups at a time. Worked well enough I think.

No damn given.

If you soak it in water, let it dry out completely before mixing it with soil. One of the reasons of using powdered dolomite is so it mixes thoroughly. The other reason is fast release.

What I meant was, if you only have granulated dolomite, can't you dissolve it completely in water and simply add the dolomite-water solution to your medium? Then there would be no need to crush the particles. Or wouldn't that be doable?

You could use it as granules too really. It's not gonna kill your plants. It breaks down over time with watering. That's part of why they make it granulated.

I'll try that next time but since I'm reusing the coco in my bed I don't think I'm going to need to add more. Maybe just to the coco that gets added after I pull the root balls.

Yes, of course they make it granulated in order that it should break down slowly. But aren't we talking many mounths, and isn't granulated dolomite intended for outdoor plants?
