i can take the exact same soil and put veggie's in it & not adjust the PH and they never have ANY PH or nute. def.

BUT if i do the same thing with weed, OH MY GOD! nute problems, PH is too low, opps, now its too high, whoa, what are all these spots on my leaves, plants are dying, leaves are burned... WTF????

why is weed different?

I had a beautiful start a week into 12/12. We've had lots of rain in the past month. It must be pretty acidic because our town water lowered two full points. I've always had to use ph down for my mj but never for outdoor tomatoes. I just hose them down with the garden hose. I can't imagine hosing my mj plants, no telling what that would do to them.

I just mail ordered some ph up. First time I've needed it in 4 years. I just hope I get it soon enough to save my grow.

most problems with MJ start off as PH problems normally the wrong PH for the solution being given to the MJ plants. get a decent PH meter if its a nute feeding then add all desired ferts to water then adjust waters PH for soil 6.5 keep the waters PH between 6.0 - 6.5 and you'll have none to very few problems. i havent used a PH meter in 1 yr and a half now

my latest in flower 7days 15 plants all in 1 gal grow bags that i've reused over n over again.

for plants i've growen in the back yd i dont even worry about PH i just hose them down. my waters PH from the tap is 7.2-7.3

For one MJ can handle high doses of fertilizer and grows like a weed, it overtakes all the soil around it and roots agressively.
Alot of peeps are under the impression MJ is hard to grow when in fact it's very easy to grow, the thing is getting it's full potential requires more attention than say carrots.
There are alot of other cultivars that require the same attention if not more than MJ but very few veggies can grow to be over 6ft tall outdoors.
The more nutrients a plant sucks from the earth the more the soil's ph and nutrient balance will be shifted, that's why container growers have ph and salt buildup problems and outdoor growers are less likely to.
I don't ph my water/solution/teas but I do start with a well balanced and composted soil and I make sure my water has the right ph and ppm values for me not to have to adjust it.
It's been the subject of more debates than I can count, to each his own IMO.
Between dolomite in my soil, tap water at 6.6 and 150ppms I have had no troubles worth mentioning.
Another thing I notice is how cheap some growers are with the volume of soil they use, more soil means more soil to buffer ph swings and more soil to hold vital organic nutrients and house a healthy microherd, with the proper proportion of perlite there is little chance of chocking out the rootzone due to infrequent waterings related to the soil volume.

Take that veggie or other plant and throw it out in the dirt, no nutes, no love, just the dirt around the house. It probably won't grow that well. Throw some cannabis seeds in the same soil and you can end up with 6' monsters.

Cannabis in the wild doesn't require much nutrient to thrive. When we feed it to the maximum it can tolerate it has issues with uptake.

From my own experience, I would say that not properly mixing nutes before measuring them out is the number one cause of nutrient deficiencies in hydro. In soil? Too many variables for me to even guess and so yeah, I'd definitely plan for deficiencies at some point or another.

I run mums in soil and flower in hydro. Best of both worlds.

like Suby states . i grow in a mix of peat and coco and i add plenty of lime and where i live we have good water coming right from the mountains. i have a ph meter and ph up/down from ej .but never use it i just air my teas for 2 days and have had no problems.
but i have had some problems with sativas but with sativas their nutrient sensitive which means less is more. thats why with sativas i top dress and just water with a mix of earth worm castings and molasses.

first I think people tend to way over-think growing weed

I also think that a bunch of the stuff people grow was bred in too controlled an environment and if your setup differs from the breeders it will cause you to have more trouble.

instead of tailoring your grow to your plant tailor your plant to your grow through selection and breeding to suit your enviroment.

yea totally...mine seem to do better when they're a little hungry all the time...keeps me from over feeding and over watering...when i do feed and/or water...they jump ahead in growth the next day when the lights come on...I love it...watch their green-ness...keep them a little light in color...if they get dark green either move them closer to the light or pull back on ferts..but whatever..i'm no expert, just my theory

ILL TELL YOU WHY THIS HAPPENDS!

BECAUSE PH 7 WHICH IS NORMALLY DRINKING WATER PH IS TOO HIGH FOR THE PLANTS AND CAUSES LOCKOUTS! AND NEW GROWERS USE CLEAN NON-PH ADJUSTED WATER.

just dont give water straight from bottle or tapwater with 7,0 in ph then you are fucked. thats it!

if one can remember that, just buy soil with nutes in it and grow it out.

use lemon to lower the ph if you wanna go all cheap and organic.

This is similar to my opinion. Nice post.

MJ is a weed that has been introduced into closets around the world as a cash crop. Suddenly people are concerned about yielding instead of irradication.
