Ok, since i started growing over a year ago, my plants always burn when thrown into flower. ive tried everything to fix this to include reduce ppm, underfeed, overfeed, flushing, EVERYTHING! then i got a humidity/temp meter and the thing read 20 percent humidity which would explain the burning. But that meter is wrong and my humidity is fine..... then i started paying closer attention to the plants and noticed that they are burning in veg too! I also have leaves twisting, bending, curling up AND curling down. And no matter what i do, my plants ALWAYS turn yellow then get rubbery then BURN!!!! Im flowering in a 4x4 orizo dark room. its one of the newer tents with the silver lining so im not sure its offgassing. my hobby shop told me it could be a disease or fungus> Please help, its killing my yeilds and wasting much time and money. Has anyone ever had this problem? What is it? and how do I fix it?

I just read your thread in the Grower's forums and your pH sucks for soil. Shoot for around 6.8. You're probably locking out nutes.

ok, here it is. these symptoms appear through a ph range of 5.8 to 6.8. i was doing 6.8 before i started to lower it. these pics are a combination of 1 plant 3 wks flowering, 8 plants 1st day in flower to include 1 coco experiment, and 6 plants sexing from seedling.

How long has this problem been going on?
about a year
What STRAIN are you growing?
Red diesel, blue mistic, pure power and auroura indica.
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?)
both.
What is the age of your plants?
explained above
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now?
4 to 6 wks
How Tall are the plants?
1 to 2.5 ft
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
flower
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc)
still establishing that
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
2 gal perfect pots.
What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
all ocean forest except one on canna coco.
What Nutrient's are you using?
all canna.
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
following the canna feeding schedule.
How often are you feeding?
every 1 to 3 days depending on need.
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients?
around day1.
What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect)
?
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
dont have a meter
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
ok ph for runoff on the soil is 1.5 HIGHER than whats put in. and the ph of the coco is about 1.5 LOWER then what was put in. WTF????
What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen?
liquid kit
How often are you watering?
once between feedings
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding?
last feeding was yesterday. explained above in previous question.
What size bulb are you using?
1000k.
What is the distance to the canopy?
about 2 ft.
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity)
around 40 using humidifier.
What is the canopy temperature?
78 to 81 F.
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range)
72 to 81.
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
2 6in inline fans.
Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ?
2 6 in inline fans. 1 draws air in from outside the darkroom, pulls it through the hood of light and outside the house. The other pulls through my carbon can filter located at top of dark room and blows outside house.
Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
no
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?
no
Is your water HARD or SOFT?
not sure
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?
tap
Are you using water from a water softener?
no
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?
lower branches trimmed before flowering
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?
clean air purge
Are plant's infected with pest's?
every once in a while i see one of those really small gnats but they dont seem to be a problem. ive inspected the root system and found no larvae, roots look good.

pics to follow shortly, im uploading them now. taking forever! damn mac.....

hmm...

It's kinda hard to tell, but it looks like you need ta put some more distance between yer plants and light. 2 feet is purdy close for 1000 watts. It looks like the leaves are bleaching out from the light. How often are watering? BC

u think so? ive heard different things about distance. i usually go with my hobby shops advice cause they are pretty much scientists. lol. but im watering every other. that seems to be when the top of the soil starts to get hard and dry out. if i water every the soil seems too moist and i dont want to reduce any oxygen to the roots.

If ya have ta water every other day there's a good chance yer plants are root bound. If you cut yer soil with at least 30% perlite yul never have ya worry about oxygen in yer soil anyway.... I have a couple 1K's myself and I've seen what they can do, and it looks like that when they're too close. Give us a picture of them out from under the light showing the whole top of the plant. Point the camera down jus like the light shines on them. If you don't think yer over feeding, I'd bet the light is too close. A picture will tell the story. I'm no scientist but I've done this fer years! lol BC

lets try getting rid of that tent first. and then troubleshoot. if ur light too close it the leaves would look way different. Do u have pics before u got the tray? (Farmer Jay nods in agreement) ok so its not the light being to close, I personally keep my 1k 2ft from the tops to create and even canopy, thats just me but anyways your light isnt the problem.

I read your earlier post to include the link to the off glassing or whatever its called. I remember burning leaves when i covered my dwc buckets with silver ducking tape. Not sure it relates to ur shiny material in your tent or not. I would, wait for it...

remove the outer lining for your tent reinforce frame and use panda plastic. or black and white poly. This solution rules out the off glassing issue.

BC has a good idea, cut the soil with perlite and vermuclite or just straight perlite if lack of oxygen is the cause.

Thats y i asked ya earlier if u where having the same problem in veg. U can firgure it out, dont give up

Peace

Well, one things fersure, goin from floros to 2 feet under a 1000 watt light is gonna be fuckin rough on em, I don't care what anyone says. I can't get no where near 2 foot with my siverstar reflectors or I'll cook em. It doesn't happen all at once tho. The infrared heat will slowly cook all the clorophyl out of em. They look jus like his last picture. I looked at yer pictures in yer gallery too Smoke3, you fried leaves the same it looks like. Keeping yer light low isn't going to make yer canopy even, you need ta train them ta do that. Btw you never add vermiculite to liten up soil, that jus makes matters worse. This isn't an issue with o2 in the soil anyway........ I think all you need to feed with is just plain grow or bloom. All that other stuff is what is making yer leaves contort in veg and prolly adding to yer problem in flower as well, it's -overkill- and you don't need it. From what I get outta reading all this is that yer real problems starts in flower. Imo, using jus plain flower nutes and raising yer light will help. I've been using FFOF soil for nearly 10 years under a 1K lights and never have any problems. I LST my plants and pull 2-4 O's per plant. Keep it simple. later, BC

Thanks BC. Im going to try that. that makes sense. the only reason why i havnt done it already is that its kinda hard to burn on canna nutes. the bio flores is the most organic crap out there, then theres cannazym which is just an enzyme, then rhizotonic for the root system, finally bio boost for flower production. that stuff really doesnt scare me. i was using the foxfarm line before the canna and i know for sure i was burning the shit out of my plants, but maybe ur right.

Dude, smoke3 made a good point about your darkroom. A lot of them were recalled, about a year ago, because the lining in the inside gave off fumes, which are toxic to plants.

It's specifically the darkroom brand that happened with.

All the best,
TG

Just reread your 1st post. I'd still look into the offgassing if nothing else has worked. Maybe the guy at the shop lied.

lol BC the burn on my tops from my 1k is different in comparison to Farmer Jays. Thats def. the 1k. If the light is the issue im gonn ahve to go out and get one of those bulbs cause from that distance and ur getting light burn i can just mount it to the roof and forget about moving it (commerical grow style.)

And i mix verculime and pertile in my soil i also dont water for a atleast 7 days never had a problem, lol, The mothers like the rough treatment.

You mean Hydrohut.

Darkroom never had the off-gassing problem.

Get your information straight before you go around telling people which brand "specifically" was recalled.

Anyways..

Jay your flowering issue looks like a severe magnesium deficiency, prolly related to the wild PH swing, but I don't do soil so take that with a grain of salt.

100% not tent off-gassing though, the symptoms look nothing like it, and the Jardin tents do not have any of the material that caused that problem for the other brands like Hydrohut.
