In my experience this can become so much work that it is simply not worth it. Plus, done wrong, it represents real dangers.

again, same website. capacitor ^^^^

they arent that hard to hook up if your somewhat handy.
just a few wires.

works out to £66 per 250watt system, i can buy 250watt hps floodlights for £45 so i guess if i do go HID ill be buying the floodlights, atm im realy leaning towards CFLS due to sheer simplicity and if a bulbblows, its only a smaller % of the light in the cab, where as 2 250watt lights, if one died on me, id have to be in a hurry to get the other back on.

oh and thanks for helping man, if i ever go over 1K, defo going to get my friend to build the systems.

cork, if you have the patience, keep an eye on ebay you can put together a quality system for cheap. I picked up a 250 watt hps sylvania ballast last year for $30 shipped (~£20). The only problem there is there would probably be less to choose from due to the smaller size of ebay.uk

CFL's are decent and easy to set up but the light penetration is not near as good as HID's and your yield could suffer if not done right. There are however people on this board that have had some pretty impressive results with them. If you were to go with CFL's you may want to consider PL-L plug in compact plug in fluoro's as they throw light better due to the shape.

A 250 hps system allow the option of using a ceramic metal halide retro-white bulb in them. They offer the most optimal spectrum for growing albeit at a reduced total lumen output.

Hope this helps.
