which garbage disposal for small trash?

idea

Member
i use a 1/3 hp garbage disposal to get rid of small stems, leaves, etc. nothing too big though.

my old one finally died and i need to get a replacement. ironicaly the motor died while taking care of small food scraps instead of evidence.

so what brands and power ratings should i look at? are there any places online with good prices?

it won't be part of my oh-shit plan, but i like to have one handy to dispose of small things.

it doesn't need to be commercial strength, but it would be nice to get a powerful disposal if it is not too expensive.

thanks in advance.

just my opinion, but garbage disposals are bad in general because of what they do to the water system. they just add unnecessary organic material to the sewage system that will only contribute more to the problems us humans create in the world. a great alternative to a garbage disposal - and much much cheaper to boot - is a "strainer" for your sink and a compost pile or worm bin.

i DO however have a disposal in my sink and use it occasionally but would not use it to dispose of items like you have described. put them in the compost pile or worm bin (not stems though the worms won't eat them very quickly) or if neither is an option, trash can, but not the disposal.

trash can? some people need to dispose of plant matter through a disposal, they work well... though i really can not help you on specs.

the food u put down ur drain feeds the micro heard in the swers and thats one of the resons we get sicknesses that are antibody imuin cuz ppl put food and pills down the drain and the mutain micros will feed and grow then the sludge that the water plants r dun with gets sold to farmers who spread it on there fields and then we eat the food out of the field the food u put down ur drain makes more for the water plant o go threwso there is high chance of it backing up and it could be your house that is flooded with shit wouldny u love to come home to that i cut everything into pieces so u cant id it and ether barrie it in the yard or worm bin help save the enviroment and not use a dispoilsal

Whats the difference between putting food or plant matter in this case down the sewer, and putting digested plant matter, aka shit, down the sewer? I agree that it's probably not a good idea to flush unused pills into the sewer system.

it adds more food for the micros and it add more the the water treatment plants to have to treat wich could cause the treatment plant to back up and flood houses the digested matter is full of bactira and noone wants to deal with it the stuff thats not digested is safe for u to put in ur worm bin and stuff its all about how much the water treatent plants have to treat
