Marijuana Nation on National Geographic

So no torrent yet? I'm suprised.

I'm of the opinion that nat geo shows are too much like discovery channel shows and not enough like pbs shows. I wish it were more like nature/nova and less like mythbusters..

They try too hard for ratings and loose integrity IMO.

Actually, I thought it was pretty decent. It well represented the current state of Marijuana, from all sides. You got to hear LEOs case, the Med case, and the total legalization case.

While there were things I'd have rather seen done differently (Emery, for example), it was a much more balanced piece than most.

I just caught this and although I thought some things could have been better, it was a pretty good show.

I don't like Marc Emery, but I respect him. I think he is an awful example for marijuana useage and doesn't represent the casual cannabis grower at all. I do respect him though for doing what NO ONE else has stepped up to do, icluding me and every other ganja lover I know, no matter how much we like to think of ourselves as cannabis crusaders. He's standing up and taking the root of the evil (US Gov) head on. Instead of talking about and hoping for change, he is actively pursuing those hopes for all the world to see with his existence on the line. Call it stupid, but that takes some big big balls. No matter what you think of Emery personally, he deserves props just for that, and really nothing else IMHO.

I was kind of glad and it makes me feel better that not once did they show a small, personal grow. The show seemed to be saying the only cannabis grown is commercial. That all cannabis growers are in it for the money. I think we all know that is not true, but at least the show didn't bring unnecessary attention to the casual home grower. The only downside to that is anyone watching who doesn't already have some knowledge about marijuana will get the wrong idea. The demographic that needs a good waking up are those who don't know a lot about cananbis and the only thing they ever heard about it is what their DARE officer told them (it was pretty funny when I saw the girl working at the dispensary in the show wearing a DARE shirt hehe).

The Israeli Doctor who described why people would use cannabis was a good description and I'm glad it came from a man who is as professional as him. It does no good for the anti-pot people when you have a long time stoner (the Sam guy) saying marijuana wasn't going to kill you. People need to hear that from the government, doctors, medical institutions, research studies, cold hard facts and not the word of mouth (even if he was right). When you put a weed smoker on tv saying weed is okay, that does next to nothing to convince someone who has the idea in their head that weed is evil.

I think Lisa Ling could have spent some time in the Netherlands other than that short mention. Tell us how they deal with cannabis and why it works, and the information is out there too. THAT is what the anti-weed guy needs to hear.

It was nice that she mentioned how much tax money marijuana could have generated for Cali. Hopefully that will appeal to the money/power hungry elite that run our countries. And I can think of no better time to mention how beneficial marijuana could be to the economy than these tough times right now.

Overall, good watch. Don't feel sour about wasting that hour at all. Would have liked to see a little more but hey, Lisa Ling did a pretty respectable job and she didn't demonize it so that is a score for the pot movement in my book. It's time for the general public to stop demonizing it as well and the show made that case a little bit. She did say cannabis has only expanded and there doesn't seem to be an end coming YIPEEE.. makes me want to move to Cali and open up a dispensary. I can't imagine how awesome it must feel to do something that is morally, realistically, ethically good :joint:

I finally came up with sometime on the torrent search. Must have just been added.

Found the title Marijuana Nation.rar on isohunt. In the process right now of downloading the nearly 600mb file to see if its the real thing. Getting it around 435 KB/S so should have it here shortly.

Will reply back if its a good file.

UPDATE: divx format - played just fine. Had a few storm warnings during the recording that caused interuption with some emergency alert screen. thought that was pretty funny.

I think it is stupid to say the show was good because it was not as bad as other crappy documentaries on cannabis...

so you get served with five different dishes of shit, and the one that tastes less shitty you call a fucking healthy meal? makes no sense.

i could make a better documentary in a week with a 200 dollar video camera and no crew

I get your point Paz - but at the same time you are full of shit. If you could make documentaries for $200 - you would be.

You live in South America right? $200 probably goes a long way but how many documentaries have you made? Yet to see the one on Chavez being a CIA stooge? Why don't you make that one?

Life seems to be very complicated in every place of the world
Most of us are anxious from time to time
Most of us are depress from time to time
We want to change that!
And, in many cases, such a change can be brought foward by cannabis
So, thats why people use it
Thats all!

yup... well said

Just finished watchn it, I thought it was a real good documentary. I like how it would show the feds point of view and let them speak, then right after it would show how the truth contradicts them, like dude sayin they dont mess with seriously ill people, then goin into how they raid the dispensaries that suply these people. Plus the ending was hella cool.
