IF you add some, and im saying IF! go VERY VERY VERY light. extremely dilute as it can screw your soil up with too much.

They are VERY acidic. There are better options IMO.

I think you mean alkaline. Wood ash is used to treat acidic soil.

Like Jaykush said, a little goes a long way. Don't use the ash from treated wood, only the good stuff.

Farmers have been clearing fields by burning for ages, its a good way to add a little bit back to the soil as well as clear the field.

Just be careful...

so it will help my soil outdoors here because all the pine trees make the soil very acidic, thanks for the input, maybe some more clarification please

This old school Aussie grower swears by it for flowering ( 1 hour long movie but its worth every minute)

actually i thought that ashes contained a lot of N and would be good for growth but its never too late to learn new stuff ;)

for organic grow fertilizer i recommend using rabbit manure if its available
one of the organics that contains most N without burning the roots ( see thread in my sig for more info)

Whatever

Good trace mineral content and also very high in K...and yes it's very alkaline. I had a buddy who would always sprinkle just a bit on the ground before he would build his mounds.

Dude you have an ass of ashes...I feel for ya bra....LOL

Give it a go in a controlled way and report back... I always wondered about wood ash...

I have a friend that collects his pot ash ( 3 blazers under one roof = alot of ash). He amends it into his soil, he also occasionally pours bong water on his plants. He swears by both techniques for boosting his K a bit... I prefer other methods because of the issues stated above.....

To each their own, the only way to know is to try......
