First time with Clones, a Few questions.

Smokin on that serious...
Ok, so i have more than a few grows under my belt, both indoors(soil) and outdoors, and i'm fairly proficient at growing cannabis from seeds (in my most humble opinion at least) :rasta:

i've never bothered with clones, because i've never had a perpetual grow, and i have never known any other growers in person(best to keep these activities quiet ehy?)

recently i got the opportunity to aqquire some clones :jump:, and i have a few questions.

Seeing as im a soil grower, what is the best method to ensure rooting?
can i use the aero(bubbler?)cloner to root and then put them in soil?
or should i root in peat pellets with rooting solution?

also, im going to buy them, but im just wondering, is 11 clones for 50 bucks a good deal? theyll be a mix of sour diesel, big buddah cheese, dj's blueberry, and a selected local AK-47.

ill be growing them in organic soil under 350w of mixed spectrum CFLs (id ideally go HPS, but im absolutely terrified of having a fire)

thanks in advance for the help, i know the questions seem a bit noobish

Chances are that they'll be rooted (or at least rooting) already when you buy them. If you're spending $50, then I'd try to persuade your supplier to at least do that for you.

You'll probably end up with a few peat pucks or a few plastic beer cups with clones.

If they're already rooted you're all set. If you just get fresh cuttings you need to have at least 1 node stripped at the bottom and cut close to there. Dip it in rooting hormone and plunge it into whatever you have. (Perlite, peat, dirt, or a bubble cloner)

Now search the forums for "cloning". ;)

I would not buy them if they are not rooted. You have no experience cloning and $50 is a waste if you kill them. Cloning is hit and miss for alot of people until they find the right technique. But $50 seems like a good deal from what I have read for rooted clones

You are also not helping yourself by not cloning your own plants. Theres no reason to grow from seed every time unless you want a different strain.

50 bucks sounds like a great deal for 11 clones. If you look at seed prices, you can pay 50 bucks for 10, some may not germinate, and less than half of the ones that do are females. I was looking for some rootone, but the stores have put away the garden goods for the year. I would take other's advise to make sure they are rooted. I have to wonder why they are so cheap. I thought clones were selling for 15 bucks and up.

You need them rooted, i have had green fingers for 25 yrs, not with mj, and today there are certain plants i still have problems with doing cuts.

I cannot for the life of me find success doing cuttings with this herb.

Don't give up!

There's no area of growing where identical methods lead to more completely different results. I say domes are death incarnate. Many say they're required. Many say keep cubes damp but, not wet. I say keep them 100% saturated at all times. And we're all right. Whatever way got your cut to root was the correct way. Used "correctly" my bubbler killed everything I put in it. Used "incorrectly" (with rockwool) I haven't lost a clone in years.

There's a myriad of methods chronicled here at IC. Mix and match till something works.

I agree.

5 bucks a clone is a pretty standard price, naturally, they should be rootbound and ready to go for that price, the whole point of paying for clones is to get them ready to transplant and go.

And on a side note to the other comments, keep those cuttings moderately wet, roots shoot out looking for water if they dont have quite enough, saturated roots dont work for their water, takes longer to pop roots.

FREEZERBOY hit the nail on the head, for most its hit or miss, and one mans poison is another man elixir.

$50 is a fair price for those clones IMO. those are some nice genetics your gettin as well.

if i had to tell you anything though, go with rapidrooter plugs and the humidity dome. if youve never done it b4 then you might as well start at the beginning
