the best thing he can do now is get a good lawyer that can strike some sort of plea bargain..

a plea bargain is used in many criminal cases in the United States to speed the criminal justice process. In most plea bargains, the defendant agrees to plead guilty to charges less serious than those originally brought in exchange for a known sentence that's usually shorter than what a jury could have awarded ...

they just tell him to leave the car n do some dui test, and then after awhile tell me n my other friend to get out of the car..then they start searching the car..

thats why u DONT FUCKING SPEED or do anything mr rodgers would not do, with 3lb in trunk. let me guess he was blazed out too. not being mean but u gotta b smart when ridin dirty. he needs a GOOD lawyer, and must keep quiet until he gets 1. how old is he? prior charges? white or black?

Not very bright on your friends part. Good luck.....jail time is in his future....sorry to be harsh but unless he can find an excellent lawyer...and some cash he is looking at some bars in his future......

I'll never forget the time I was going to drop off a 3lb favor to a friend, but I had been drinking all day due to a football game, and really didnt want to go, so I asked my ex to drive. Well she drove alright, 6mph over the limit and we get pulled over. The state patrolman comes directly to my window and the first thing he asks is where we were going. I am shitting bricks at this point, I respond calmy "We are going to do some shopping and have some dinner", and he says "Ok", proceeds to ask for registration/insurance, and I kindly handed it over. As he's walking back to his car im honestly considering WTF is gonna happen. We had not smoked anything, but obviously I smelled like some booze im sure. A few minutes later he comes back and gives my ex a warning for speeding. Tells us to have a great dinner.

Let's just say WTF I got out of there, dropped the goods to my friend and went home in complete and utter paranoia for a week straight.

Speeding is BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck to your friend, seriously.

I don't think there will be any jail time if he has no priors in the bay area. Depends on how much cash tho as well. Med patient?

was he arrested before they searched the car?

He may get out of it with some probation

But what he really really really needs is a lawyer.

Tell him this is a long drawn out process and to chill.

And this is a prime example of what NOT to do when transporting 3 pounds. sheesh

no weapons...just straight up 3 + those cash
he was out of his car doing some dui test or someshit.. he didnt even kno he has anything in the trunk...thats hella stupid

they'll lean hard on your friend...tell him hes looking at 3+ years...and try to get him to sing...which is SOP (standard operating procedure)

they'll lean very hard...constantly reminding him of the offense...of the motor vehicle charge...of all the time...consideration is taken if he tells them a significant amount worthy in the eyes of the judge of reducing his sentence...

he may even implicate you, your friends, and your friend's friends...if you're growing and he knows it, I'd get that stuff gone fast

it's amazing how much they sing to avoid doing much time...I wouldn't doubt it if the police actually told them to finally STOP SINGING!

in short, he's fucked... :violin:

due i would clear uot your op until things are straightened out.
3 elbows is a lot different than 3 ozs... and 4gs of undocumented cash looks kinda fishy. cops are liars and assholes but sometimes they are not as dumb as we may like to think.

stay safe

huh?
I live in Colorado...why?
Are you in a redneck state?

I'm just telling you the SOP
What should he do?
Well, they already knows he's dealing...
They'll want to know the source and customers
If you can, try to go see him and secretly tell him not to give in and rat everyone out...maybe by passing him a silent note with the info below
Most of their threats are over-exagerated bluffs...yet they fall for it all the time
Eventually, the charges will be minimized by the state...probably reduced to 9-24 months...but since that doesn't sound very threatening, they pump it up to several years (3-4...even 5) to get him to talk

You didn't mention if this was his first offence...

?? He didnt know he had 3 pounds in the trunk?

I am not sure but if he hadnt been arrested yet, and was still performing the field sobriety test, they may have had no right to search.

Anyone look this up on NORML?

http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?wtm_view=&Group_ID=4525

anything over 28.5 grams is a 6 month sentence and 500$ fine. Does it matter how much?

If the feds dont pick it up, is that it?
