well what would help is the amount of plants your talking about, and setup ? if anything, the first thing that comes to mind is drip emitters, a pump, a pump for a rez, a rez (a big rez), timers .. . .cant think of anything else right now.

Those watering balls aren't gonna work for 3 weeks though. Just get a small pond pump from lowes. Fill up a barrel or just use your bathtub as a reservoir. Run a hose and then tubing then drip emitters to your plants. Set up a timer to turn your pump on for a few minutes every 2 or 3 of days. Good luck !!

Get yourself a Green Genius. Works on 4 AA Batteries and you can dial it in for soil and Hydro. I've done about 3 grows with them and have taken vacation with no worries. I used rechargable batteries and one set last 3 months Hydro before recharging. So if your doing soil the shouls last much longer.

I'm in the same boat. You think a wick system would work if I repotted them? How long would 5 gallons last to a 16" revegging plant?

Plant Sitters

I have 6 of them. They slowly slurp moisture from a water container (of any size) into the soil. I have only used the unattended for about 1 week at a time, but with a big enough water tank they might work. Putting nutes in the water tank is not recommended by the manufacture, but I am not sure why.

Just be sure to soak the terra-cotta plugs and the tubes in water first. Get the whole system totally full of water, then put the tubes with the lid into the plugs while under water. Its a siphon effect so draws moisture as as compared to other systems that inject more fixed amounts of moisture. The roots just wrap around the terra-cotta plugs and seem like happy girls.

I have had good success with them. Usually during veg, but some during flowering. Water the plants real good with nutes, then put the end of the tube in a big water tank and poke the plugs close to the stems of each plant. I suspect some nutes in the water tank would be tolerated but not sure. Usually I have one of these next to all my plants and then feed nutes manually once a week and it works pretty well.

However 1 week unattended is my limit with these in my experience. But 3 weeks with these would be way better than nothing ... My job requires travel often at short notice and my wife pretends my "hobby" does not exist, so the plant sitters are life savers and give me peace of mind while away.
