Cal mag or Epsom with Lucas Formula?

P

Purple_trees

Im vegging right now in a sealed room with an Aero Sytem 600w, 78f, 1000ppm co2, 60% rh..Reverse Osmosis water..Running Master Kush 3 days into veg. Im using the 5-10 lucas right now with an additional 10ml per gal. of Cal Mag. But it seems like im still getting a Mg. Def....Leaf tips are turned up and growth has slowed. Should i be using Epsom Salts instead of putting in more cal mag which might add too much nitrogen and cal that i might not need.. What do you Lucas users think? How much Cal Mag, or Epsom are you RO Lucas People doing? Any help is appreciated! thanks!

You haven't mentioned pH. It's possible you have all the mag you need but just can't use it. At 1000 ppm, you may be underfeeding. What was PPM yesterday and the day before?

sorry, its 1000ppm of co2 in the air.. The waters Ph is kept at 5.8 everyday. The waters ppms are 1050.. I was thinking they might be ready for the 8ml micro-16ml bloom which would add more cal and mag to the mix. And Lucas never recommended any additives..What do you think? they are about 8" tall

Where had the pH gone that it needs to be maintained? What was it yesterday and the day before? What was the PPM yesterday and the day before? :beat-dead I harp on "yesterday and the day before" because it takes 3 points to plot a line. Are your readings going up, down or staying flat? This tells you if the nute solution is (respectively) too rich, too lean or just right.

Personally, with tap water @ 250 PPM, I've never done the RO thing. Nutes intentionally lack secondary elements vital to plant growth because they expect us to add them through the use of tap water. With RO, CalMag or similar is a must. As Haps said, make changes slowly and observe closely. Still, let's make sure that pH and feeding strength are not the problem.

I have almost ruled it out that i should have been using full strength Lucas 8-16 from the time they are babies. The PH has stayed CONSTANT at 5.8. I say maintained, because i check it everyday. But i guess im just going to up the cal mag bit by bit. And see what happens

try 50/50 tap/RO and cut the calmg out..

lucas 8/16 has 73ppm mg, mj plants like around 50-75ppm theres plenty in micro/bloom and the tap has a lil in it 2..

plants like around 100-150ppm cal in micro/bloom theres 130ppm add what the 50% tap water add's in and your gold'n

you more then likely u have a lock out from too much cal/mg and it looks like it's not getting enuff. i would cut out cal/mg and add it very little at a time if needed

remember epsom salt also add's S if you use it.... S should be 10ppm less the your MG (50-60ppm) 8m/16b has 49ppm s

N 75-125
P 75-125
K 175-225
Mg 50-75
S 50-60
Ca 100-150
Fe 2.8
B .7
Mn .8
Zn .3
Mo .05
Cu .2

by the way... 5m/10b is more then plenty for 3 day vegged plants....

High Trees! Thats something to try. I stopped using RO completely in my aero system and have not needed cal-mag at all since. Also, during veg I like to spray them with epsom salts and diamond necter as a foliar feed. You might try that as well.
Peace, bugout

Since I am thinking of using the Lucas formula, is it pretty standard to have to use Cal-Mag? I use straight well water (before the house filtration)with a PPM of 50-70. I do this to avoid the sodium from the water softner?

00420-I really appreciate you helping me out on this one. That is all very useful information. I wish i would have started them on the 8-16 first.. But its great to know now. I might try out using a mix of RO and tap water... Maybe even a 75%RO 25%tap mix. I really appreciate the help! Also, how do you figure out the amount of each specific nutrient in a solution?

T-Bug- Thanks bro! i will try that one out in the future as well!! Sounds like a bit of tap might do some good

Yamaha-According to Lucas no additives were needed, and he never used any.. But certain strains i have found out need it much more than others..btw sweet grows man! very inspiring
