nice lookin veggies Digi!! happy plants! thanks for the explanation of gooseberries, sounds good. Its great getting a look at peoples gardens, love it!!

My personal fav pheno hybrid belladonna also known as deadly nightshade in common terms...very hallucinogenic, though not to be consumed without proper guidance and learnings...an experienced shaman...or an in worse cases an inexperienced will do :).

I do not recommend consuming the alkaloids in this plant though, since they can have life-threatening and in general fairly dramatic effects on the physiological system....with that said...it is one of the most beautiful grows and comes in many shades...such as white and yellow, larger or smaller- bushy, short tall...wish I had more pics already uploaded...

Nice work MrsB...Is that artichoke an annual? My seed packet says they will take two years to finish...Is this true? How long did yours take to bloom? Mine are only three months old and are scaring me with their tremendous growth....though I never knew how an artichoke looked till your picture...Surprises are fun. You have a great garden...What kind of nutes do you use on your tomatoes?

G'luck to all

A Personality Marker for myself:
The Narcis...Yeah!- all homegrown

Hi Accumbens  the arti is a perrenial, it will come back year after year and give your more chokers, it takes a cpl of seasons to get any "fruit" or whatever they are called. it starts to take off in the early spring and you get chokers around 60 days later or so. We fert our garden with the same stuff as the mj girls get. Have fun with your veggies! :D

Mrs B: Ya'll have some great info up this is true...Many a thanks...One more question about the art's. I shall get some pic's up of my garden so you can understand better, but I have them about 20-40cm apart on this year's compost bin...some may be too close together...how much of tendency do they have to choke...or should a plentiful supply of nutes and the soil in a 8x6x5 compost suffice even if they are rather close. I think there might have been too much N in the compost and they have really gone haywire.

Thanks

BTW...those tomato flower pictures are very NIIIIICE....

Justin,
nice tomato pics.

If I didn't grow tomato plants, I would have thaught they were some type of yellow daisies.

Nice gardens everyone!!! I wish they had this forum a few years ago when I had a 40'x50' garden going, but since my last 2 surgeries I've had to give it up, I'm now rated at 90* permanant disability right lrg,hip and lower back. But I still love to grow things besides my MJ!!! So I've got a little container garden this year with 3 pots of lettus going that I've harvested from twice this season so far. Some white and red radishes, purple bell peppers got 3 harvested so far, some eggplants and tomatoes 4 picked to date!

I had the extra room in the closet due to an electrical fire(luckly I was home and in the next room and caught it in time!!!) that cost 15 seedlings, so I started em indoors under the 400W HPS.

I've got em sitin off the side pourch now and their doing fine! Next year I'll double my efforts and my Lady said I could have a large section in the dinning room of all places to start a year round indoor hydro veggie and spice garden, I belive I won't be able to go back to work again so I'm expanding my hobbies to accomidate my limits!

Heres a group shot

My first eggplant!

purple bell peppers

and toms

I know it's a small garden but it'll double up every year and I'll have a niceer one!!!

Mrs. Babba are those artichokes you've got growing??? I've allways wanted to try those,do you need a certain climate for those???

Oh yea and lets not forget

That's 5 gallons of wine fermenting in the right corner, I'm trying to use the Co2 over my Burmese Dream survivor =P...Don

Time for harvest photos. My chili pepper and tomato plants are in containers. Giant oxheart and Celebrity tomatoes, Red Peter pepper, yellow upright chili pepper (anyone know it's name?), jalapeno pepper and a hybrid of big Jim and red caribe peppers I call half Jim. All started from seeds aquired for SASE from garden forums. Use water bath canner to make some badass salsa from them.

Our community gardens were eliminated 20 years ago. Growing restricted to pots since. All the organic truck farmers are long gone from these parts as well. Farmers markets are the summer options now. My gripe with them is that all the produce is commercial grade. FEW named varieties of anything! I sorely miss my own home canned pole beans, zucchini bread and butter pickles, chow chow, relishes and tomatoes. Not to mention all the goodies that went in the freezer.

Every year I see fewer "kitchen" gardens. Even few farmers have them anymore. All the places I used to pick wild fruit are gone and not to building. Just expanding the farm fields.

Good luck to everyone this season.

I've got a half acre planted now; carrots, radishes, turnips, collards, mustards, and various lettuces. Everything is winding down now. I will have about 2 acres planted in the spring. All sorts of good stuff. Pics to come this spring.
