i just mailed my final payment in on my 2007 toyota FJ....she's all mine.

ive been making triple and quadruple payments and got it done in less than a year.

im currently in negotiations on my property in alaska, it wont cost me much at all....and has a small cabin already.

so im prolly gonna buy THIS camper, and rig it up real good.

... and in a yearish w/ no bills, money in the bank, and ganja in the trunk ...ill bounce, travel around a bit and just do what i want for a while (just me and my dawg)...before makin it back to alaska.

dude wants $2300 for it its a 1998ish 18 footer. i think its well worth that.

i lived in a camper van for months and in a tent/truck too, so i think i'd like this setup.

just wanted to see what u guys think, and any advice i might be overlooking (tho i doubt there is much)

[stil trying to figure out how i could do a lil-itty-bitty grow]...maybe ill practice in a smalllllllllll cabinet and see what i can do.

anyway here are pics of the camper:

i love the airstream camper s4l pumps...but its a lot of money:

Airstreams are badass!! So classic looking, would love to own one. Ever seen the "Long, long trailer" (I think that is the name...) with Lucille Ball?? Ridiculous movie, nice trailer though.

That Airstream base camp unit is cool, but all their units are nice. My goal is to become a nomad, traveling south for the winter season.

Since Hurricane Gustav.... I've been living in a old GMC Eleganza. It's the kind that you drive, not a trailer. All original and everything works. It's a beast...has an Olds 455 with a new tranny, all new steering assembly and 6 new tires. (dual rear axles).
I currently have it parked in my bro's front yard, but I'm looking for a place to buy at the moment. It's pretty cool, but it's retro as hell. lol! I kinda feel like I'm living a Brady bunch trailer!

I think that you can pull off a small grow if you set it up right....prolly have to use CFL's....I don't know if you could manage the heat from a small hid (70-150w). But who knows? You've got the skills to build it, I know that much.

Living in a camper is pretty cool, but I do miss growing my herb... :joint:

Just remember....that FJ's fuel mileage will plummet once you go to draggin' that trailer all over creation and back.

Good Luck....and keep up posted bro!

What are you going to do for waste removal. I am guessing here that you already have a septic. It might not be a good idea to haul your trailer to a dump station every couple month. Also are there age restrictions. Some places the trailer/MH has to be 1976 and newer.

I like the idea. I'm looking for something like that to put on a lot in Kansas, only I'm looking in the less than $2000.00 range

Airstream was gonna be my suggestion bro, I know the market is a bit higher in TX right now on them but here in MN I found several in great shape in the $3,500 range. If you're gonna tow it around a bunch then lighter is better, buying & setting in place I'd hunt CraigsList for Airstream, if you're gonna tow it to Alaska then you can search CL anywhere up the coastal cities and buy it farther north. WA & OR have a bunch of RVs for sale on CL. Finding a sweet winter deal is mighty easy in this economy.

ive been looking everyday...mostly on CL

every airstream i find is huge ...like 30+ foot...i want it less than 20 foot.

ill keep looking, especially since i wanna get out of this rat race....

...my alaska property deal fell thru because dude sold it thru some strange family arrangement....no biggie tho.

ill still find some camper, some land, and work it out.

Not sure what to tell you. With all my Cubscout and Boyscout knowledge, there is one to remember. Toilet paper. Leaves are a scratchy alternative. :D

I totally dig that little Airstream but damn they are spendy.

The Image REaper over on canncom was living and growing, and even breeding, in a camper trailer- that Daddy's Girl was bred in the camper actually lol.

Are you handy with carpentry? Be looking for a unit that is mechanically in great shape underneath, with working fixtures inside, but as for cosmetics, you can go straight nutty upgrading and tweaking it to exactly what you want. Look at interior pictures of yachts for ideas too, because the setups translate well and yachts tend to be beautifully done on the inside, with woodwork that anyone handy can replicate.
Some ideas to make it comfy-
-Dual layer of curtains, one to black it out if you wnat to sleep during the day, and a gauzy one for privacy that still lets in light
-dinette area that folds into a sofa or even a bed, with storage under the benches
-build racks for your basic cooking shit, like oils and spices, that don't allow anythign to tip over, including INSIDE the fridge
-magnetic knife strips because the blades WILL dull fast when you are driving and they are rubbing together
-A roof that is sturdy enough to get up on and build a cargo rack for things like a bicycle and a kayak, both GREAT toys to have when you're just cruising around
-Solar panels! Or even a wind generator. Cool.
Good luck, and have fun!

thats the 1 i want i guess

that's called the 'Bambi', might make it easier to search Craigslist for it but the seller needs to know it's a Bambi as well I guess. and btw the proper way to shine up any airstream is by going over it with mineral spirits on a rag or soft bristle brush, a stinky & time consuming process but the original factory shine will return and last for years thereafter.......

I went what I like to call 'exploring' in the woods the other day and hiked up a mountain. On my way down I noticed something off in the distance and walked towards it. It ended up being an airstream that someone lived in. Got me thinking about the airstream I lived in for years and this post. I wanted to knock on the door but I left them alone. Who knows it could be some crazy asshole living in the woods who doesn't want to be bothered. I know I wouldn't want to be. I got sad there after though because I was much happier with just my airstream. These days I got a car, house, job, etc. and live rather lavishly compared to how I used to, but I noticed I am not nearly as happy.
I need to get back to those more careless days when I lived day to day and didn't have a worry in the world. After reading this post, seeing the airstream the other day in the woods, and doing some deep thinking I want to buy another airstream and hit the road. After that I want to purchase some land, throw my airstream on it and live as I used too. I was a better person when I lived off nothing and had nothing.
