I got this bucket,netpot,airstones, that was used and the plant had root rot, this was over 2 years ago easily. THink that might increase the chance of me getting root rot again?
Fill it up and add a good about of bleach. Let it run all day/overnight and then dump it. Rinse it out really good and refill it. Now add a bottle of Peroxide H2O2, what this does is decomposes any bleach (Sodium Hypochlorite) into salt and oxygen. Rinse a few more times and you're golden. Don't forget to scrub the outside too.
H2O2(aq) + NaOCl(aq) → NaCl(aq) + H2O(l) + O2(g)
This clean-up will cost you under 5 bucks, 2 bucks for bleach and 2 for the peroxide.
Just make sure to keep the temps down. Finding a way to insulate it is best.
Buy some new QUALITY airstones. Make sure you have about a watt of airpump power per gallon of water in your res.
Just recently had root rot eat a great little tree, setting me back several months, so I'm a bit sensitive on the subject.
Bit me 3 times before I figured out something that would work.
(Some of us are slower learners than others.)
I'm now using the ice-bottle method of res temp management. LOL
It's one advantage I've found using Scrog is that the canopy usually kept the res cool for me.
Does anyone remember seeing any Modular Scrog Ebb&Flow setups anywhere? I seem to be drifting in that direction for setting up a perpetual for myself.....
