nah, i'd rather rely on a proven system that is silent and works. odor is 1 of my top priorities. i'm not skimping there, i'm not skimping anywhere to tell u the truth....
not saying ur method would not work, it's just the way i am.

To be more clear if I dont run the vaportek you can smell it out in the yard and when you open the front door in the living room. When I have it adjusted correctly there is zero smell outside,a very slight smell of bubblegum in the living room if anything, usually nothing.Really no noticable odor until you open the door to the 8 by 8 room and then its a light bubblegum smell. Its very much a matter of learning to use it correctly adjusting it accordingly, not just set and forget.Irie sometimes 5 just wont get it I've learned, and dont expect a 90 day cartridge to last 90 days you'll be lucky if one lasts a flowering period

i have to optimum 4000, one inside the room, one outside and an ozone just in case by the door. got my 4000's at five and they work wonders, the vaportronic wall unit works pretty well for me in the hallway with three disk that last pretty long and it's not a over kill, i believe that it's more efficient then the ozone sprays that i use to use. vaportek does it for me, have ran stinky strains and haven't had no problems, a little expensive but if you can't stop smell might as well give up on growing.

PP I keep a couple 902600 wall cabinet units and use them mobile as needed, with one mounted in the cure room.I do everything with vaportek and have successfully for a long time now.Johnson supply is the place to score for sure

ok guys,im loving this thread, i have a small cab grow with 250w envirolite.the cab is around 2 1/2 ft tall and wide x 1 3/4ft deep. i have just put my 2 clones into flower a week ago and odour control is my main concern. major paranoia setting in when im high!.
so what i was wanting to know was if i put a vaportronic wall unit inside the cab(would love the 4000 but way out my price range on this grow) would this keep the smell in check? my gf dont mind the grow and will never tell anyone but as soon as the stink comes, she not gonna be happy!
thanx for any input guys

I haven't read the whole thread, so someone might disagree with me, but I have the wall unit, and bought the vanilla disk, and it didnt help with the smell very much, i mean you could smell the vanilla but you could still smell the grow mixed in. So i gave up on the unit for awhile till i read somewere the the neutral scent was the only sent that work, because it does more than just try to mask the scent. Dont no how true this is but i bought the neutral scent to see for myself, and low and behold no more grow smell coming out of my exhaust

Yes i would say it will be enough, esp if you box is sealed with air only coming out of one place. Place the unit in front of the exhaust and you should be golden. this is how i set up my cab with a 400 watt lamp and a stanley blower mod.

PS get good batterys the cheap dollar store batterys run out to fast.

The VaporTek works great for masking the MJ smell but it does give off a cleaning type smell if you know what I mean.

I use it in conjunction with my charcoal filter inside my grow space. If the Vaportek doesn't mask the smell the charcoal filter gets the rest out and if for some reason you have a leak and the smell gets out I choose for the neighbors to smell the Vaportek.

Also a good note is if you have indoor animals like cats and litter boxes its a great thing to have and tell everyone its to mask those odors.

ok thanx for the replies guys thats perfect,my box isnt totally sealed at the min so i will get onto that as soon as poss.im shopping around at the minute to find the vaportronic wall unit at the best price.it actually seems harder to get hold of than the 4000 for the uk! although i have found a 4000 on ebay that is on there right now so im keeping an eye on it and who knows! lol
i have 2 cats and some days when i come back from work they stink the place out if i bin to stoned to change the litter so my cover is perfect and the gf likes the clean smell and detests weed smell so perfect! (yes i know shes strange! lol!)
anyway thanx alot guys and if anyone has a link for vaportronic wall unit in uk then please post! thank you please!!

i know this had been discussed before but would the VT work better inside enclosed grow area or outside next to exhaust...? i have a growtent and cannot decide if the VT will go inside or out...

Hi

These units are great, as mentioned before they are used at flood sites to cover up sewage and even dead body smells

However

You need to adjust every few days, the ideal i find is to use setting 3 during the night cycle of the plants and use setting 6 during the light period

This is with cheese strains

The cartridges last 30 days, after that, REZ fro Reservoir seeds gave me some excellent advice

"drill holes in the bottom and put a small computer sized fan on it" - I now have 2 of these cartridge computer fan devices in my house and find them excellent for adjoining rooms. You get a extra 30 days or so

ALSO

I find that taking the refills out every week and running water over them works really well, it turbo charges the smell for a day or so - a Vaportek rep recommended this after i emailed them and told them i work on a sewage plant and need odour control in the offices

I now have 3 of these units and they are much better than a carbon scrubber if used correctly, if not, they are dangerous and will get you busted

I use them IN the grow rooms and the portable computer fan ones in adjoining rooms on the above settings

However i think it is important to mention that:-

Carbon scrubbers garentee odour control with no intervention, Vaporteks dont. You need to adjust and maintain these on a daily basis. If you do this youll find them a excellent addition to your grow rooms and will wonder how you managed without them.

The only way i can describe your grow if used correctly is HOSPITAL SMELL FRESH

Oh and always get the neutral scent, its the only one that destroys odours according to the vaportek rep, the others mask it

i got mine set at 7 or 8 right outside of tent in basement and i get whiffs of weed in basement and sometimes upstairs...wtf. maybe adjuststing daily is what works best. i started at 2, now i'm just flipping to 12/12 at week 5 and those 5 fuckers are starting to stink, more though away from tent. pissed. also using 2 glade plug in fresheners in basement. even thinking of getting a vaportronic for other part of basement.

yes sir, there is, matter-o-fact ; )

its called a ''vapotronic'', a scaled down version of the 4000. after much pleading and begging, my girlfriend is letting me order one today. seeing how we live next door to 2 leo's in townhouses, im surprised bartering with her was such an ordeal... prison is fun, babe!

my setup is 400w hps for veg, and then for flowering ill be switching over to the grandaddy 1000watter. 2 mother plants of AK ive been lst'ing for a little over 2 months now. the mothers were bonsais ive had for a year. when i changed containers about a 2 weeks ago i accidentally bought the 10gallon instead of the 5gallon. i mean my G/F accidentally purchased the wrong ones. does that sound better? .... i do think so.

now with all this extra space, im experimenting with just how big i can get these 2 girls before i switch over to flower, where my chief concern is odor, cause AK stinks even in veg.

much props to rezdog, after reading for weeks about odor control options, vaportek seems like the godsend us pot smokers have been waiting for, if you meet the certain criteria. sealed room, check. ummmm...lets see... did i mention ''sealed room''? was leaning towards a carbon scrubber, but people fail to take into consideration if your temps and humidity arent perfect, the efficiency of the scrubber goes up in smoke. plus, building codes arent what they used to be, i can hear my leo neighbors lifting weights and beating their g/f's all the time, so the noise associated with a carbon can wasnt as plausible as a silent unit spewing forth a blanket of vapor and security validated by some of the top members of this community. im not jaded, as to i will have to dial in and employ soem trial and error, but knowing the #1culprit for getting busted has now been nullified makes me sleep like a baby at night with mr scrambles and my g/f. i mean, as long my house doesnt smell like a dole chemical plant, ill be quite content and consider my purchase a roaring success.
<mr scrambles is the fictional cat from south park owned by the also fictitious butters parents>

ill post some pics tonight of my lst bushes and set up, for the most part its simple and effective. and as soon as i receive my vaportronic, ill be able offer an educated opinion on the effectiveness of the device, as if there is really any doubt...

thanks to all the members who kindly turn us rookies into formidable and accomplished growers ; )

overkill for a 1000w setup? is there a smaller version?

no overkill. yes vaportronic smaller 1. i have both. actually 2 vaportronics and 1 VT 4000. odor control is #1. without it there is no grow IMO. :joint:
piece of mind.
i use a 250CMH in a tent. soon 400. not a monster grow but i def had stinky pot smell upstairs prior to vaportek. i keep the VT 4000 in flowering tent. i keep 1 vaportronic in veg tent, and another in stairwell going up from basement. all neutral scent cartidges. the VT4000 is a beast. it takes some getting used to but easy to use. i found what works best for me is when i place a new cartiege on line, i set unit to #3. 10 settings. after a couple weeks i up it to 4. then like every week or week and a half i raise it 1. when i get to 10. it is about 10 weeks old and i place new 1 online. always the 120 day cartidge. i replace after about 70 days or so. i think they rate it 120 if u keep it on minimum. the smaller vaportronics come set from factory. u can adjust them but i do not. they will hold up to 10 scent disks. i put in 5 and replace monthly.
ALSO important to me is, dont replace the VT 4000 cartridge and vaportronic disks at same time. those cartidges and disks are strong. for a day or 2 after changing either, i get whiffs of that scent upstairs, smells alittle like bubblegummish eucaliptis. after a day or 2 i smell nothing. no weed. nothing. so anyway i write everything down and keep records of when i change. i change out the vaportronic disks 2 weeks apart from each other. so when 1 is getting new disks other unit is 2 weeks old. the VT 4000 gets changed about every 70 days. i work that around the vaportronic disk changing regimen too. yes u may say overkill and cartidges are pricey, maybe. but who wants to grow sick trees while stinkin up your house!!!? as for me a scrubber was out of the question due to space and noise. my entire operation is pretty much silent. i also have about 6 glade plug in fresheners throughout house, open basement window once or twice a day, mist house a couple times a week with febreeze and burn candles like a bitch. :rasta:
just need piece of mind. i could never enjoy this fine hobby if u smell pot when u walk in house. :fsu:
any questions PM me.
