I am trying to come up w/ a good stealth way of running 1000 watt SOG. :rasta:

This is the best I can come up with....:bashhead: should be able to keep it cool and could probably ad Co2 later. :jump:

Would run 2 Dual 250 watt Galaxy's in a sog style.... :muahaha: 4 plants per sq ft... :chin: cab is 48x24 = 32 plants per shelf :chin: , total 64 plants :chin: , can grow each in 1 gallon containers (5"x5").... :chin:

:moon: Critique my idea please! :moon:

   Thanks!

i don't think i have ever read a thread where there is that much wattage in a cabinet that size. if you can cool it, it will rock ... hard. your air exchange set-up looks good . how big are those vents ? i am guessing that those air-cooled hoods have glass in them ?

Yup, they would be air cooled... Looking at the SunSystem Super Sun 2. If I have to I will upgrade to 6" Duct Boosters, may just do that anyhow...

I kinda have another set up now w/ a t-5....

I want to run it by ya'll first and start piecing it together...

The vents are 8x8" so 1/3'd of the back (in length) will be vented. Two fans per level, one large fan w/ two 6" duct boosters should keep each 250 watt cool right? I've seen them cooled with axials in computer cases.

So I have another idea, which do you think is better?

Stealth is important... I can get away with a bit of fan noise, can cover up with exterior fans and maybe an air purifier BUT, here is what I changed.

Instead of stuffing a large fan inside of a box w/ a silencer and filter, how about I remove the big fan, place two filters inside (one for each level). Put a 6" duct fan for each of the top level reflectors, and a single 8" pulling from both of the bottom hoods...

This should give me around 500cfm for the bottom cab and around 300 cfm for the top cab. Can do that math but we are dealing with roughly 28ft^3 per section so the air exchange should be 17 times a minute for the bottom cab and 10 times for the upper level of the cab. The numbers above are all rough, figuratively most likely remove 5 digits of each figure, should become more accurate. STILL, enough air exchange right.

This should be a lot quieter than the larger fan, with a fish tank and a fan on the outside we should have virtually no noticeable noise pollution. The two filters should down most of the odor... however, if I must bring the cat litter box and place it next to the box, maybe set up a mouse cage or something, lol...

Easy fix :moon:

Well, hope the pic makes it clear what I am talking about.

Thanks,

o.k., i get the impression that this grow is to take place in a living area (bedroom ? living-room?) and i think you are greatly underestimating the noise made by a 6" (or even a 4") in-line fan. if this cabinet is in a room that is used, or even walked past, by other people, then all stealth is gone. "stealth" grows are usually little computer-case grows, dressers or small armoires. larger stealth grows can be pulled off in a basement or garage.

I wanna see this baby in action. Why so many separate compartments and so many lights? It's going to cost you a pretty penny to build out I think. Instead of 1 fan now it's 4. Instead of 1 hood now it's 4. Instead of 1......

My 6" duct booster fan is pretty silent, turn it down in speed a notch and it is virtually silent... two 6" duct booster fans and an 8" duct booster fan (i have yet to hear one yet... might go grab one this weekend to test it out) should not be too bad... easy to disguise I think... If not, oh well... I will :cuss: anyone out who goes near it....

These are not the inline fans... not:

That thing was loud as fuck... resulting in the removal of my entire grow room....

I have a no girls aloud room, lol.... the office, so that is no traveling mother in laws, the lady, yadda.... I'm the only guy around these parts. :badday:
ha ha

So with the booster or duct booster fans, they are pretty quiet...

I can make it quieter if need be...

The only real concern is the heat of that lower exhaust pipe going right through the upper grow area. All of it WILL BE hard ducting, except for the parts where the hard ducting connects to the lights. Fortunately that have insulation for the hard duct... Should resolve it, it's just going to be ugly and I like the streamline, organized look.

A duct muffler really helps reduce sound (and they're real easy to make). So does insulated ducting. And less bends. (And it'll take care of the heat issue.)

Yeah, the only real issues I will have here is constructing good exhaust. I put a lot of emphasis in my design on keeping them straight as possible. Only one long(er) bend per light and there will be no sharp 90º angles or anything that restrictive.... The only extra bends will be from the "y" junctions (The 6x6x8" and the 6x6x6") The ~120º nature of these two pieces will allow me to not use a 90º bend ANYWHERE in my system. Though, in reality it will be a 90º bend, just not a restrictive, tight one.

It's kinda hard to explain, especially without knowing the actual angles of the peaces.

This will play a bigger importance if I use the duct booster fans as they have less power and with less restriction they will be quieter as well they will provide more air flow.

It's going to be expensive, 4 hoods, 2 ballasts. The only items besides the cab that will run me more than $100. The 4 dark room vents, ha.... It will be around a grand or a grand plus a couple hundred....

It's going to be a slow process... over the next couple/few months... I will keep the log of it's progress here though.

The compartments on top serve no relative purpose, only to be more organized and stealthy I guess. I want a bi-lateral appearance I guess...

I made a 5ft' duct muffler a month ago just to try it out... it would probably measure out at 0-1 dB

By the way

Oh wait nevermind, I had misunderstood... at quick glance it looked like it was 4 separate rooms, but I just noticed that it's 2.

Sounds like you got your ductwork plan all figured out and pretty well understood.
