The source for that information was here.

"The new law takes legal effect 10 days after the declaration of the vote [Const 1963 Art 2, Sec 9], which is scheduled for November 24, 2008. Expect this law to take effect on December 4, 2008."

I will surely be a caregiver. But I also hope I can get a card of my own. They mention Nausea in the list of qualifying conditions. Would the Nausea of migraines qualify?

Also if a Mod reads this, is there any way to activate my Pm ability before I get to 50 posts? I have to PM's waiting that I cannot check. I am a mod at another site and a member of quite a few others. Thanks.

I also intend on being a caregiver in this state. I am simply waiting for the Dec 4 date to hit.

Lol@50 posts. I've been a member here for over 2 years and haven't made 50 posts. Doesn't that qualify me for something? Like a "supreme lurker" title or something? haha

Press Conference is at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 4, 2008, EMC Conference Room, Suite 200; 2000 Town Center, Southfield MI 48075

Physician Authorizes First Patients for Medical Marijuana in Michigan
A national nonprofit organization, THCF Medical Clinics, opens a new medical marijuana clinic Thursday at 2000 Town Center in Southfield. Eric Eisenbud, MD, along with the executive director of THCF, Douglas P. Stanford, and several medical marijuana patients are holding a press conference at 10 AM in the EMC Conference room at Suite 200 in 2000 Town Center in Southfield. Michigan's marijuana law takes effect tomorrow and Dr. Eisenbud will issue the first authorizations for patients who have qualifying conditions under the new law. THCF Medical Clinics have helped over 45,000 patients obtain their state's permit for medical marijuana. The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation (THCF) has offices and has helped implement the medical marijuana laws in seven other states: Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Montana, Hawaii, Nevada and California. Dr. Eisenbud has helped over 3,000 medical marijuana patients in Colorado and Montana. THCF Medical Clinics does not provide medical marijuana to patients, but provides physicians who can help qualified patients get state authorization. Initially, our patients will receive a physician's statement that exempts them from prosecution and allows them to raise an affirmative defense for medical marijuana if they are currently being prosecuted. In April 2009, the Michigan Community Health Department will issue new forms and procedures to begin issuing Michigan Medical Marijuana Registry Identification cards. When those forms are available, Dr. Eisenbud will complete them for all Michigan patients of THCF Medical Clinics. Medical marijuana was approved in Michigan by 63 percent of voters in Prop 1 in November. Michigan becomes the 13th state to allow medical marijuana, in addition to California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, Nevada, Montana, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island and New Mexico.

THCF Medical Clinics contact info: Phone 503-358-2418 - tell them Attorney Greg Schmid from www.QualifyingPatient.com sent you.

Anyone know if aniety/depression will be able to qualify uner the law? From what I've read, there can be situations where the dr can approve other conditions not listed. Is that correct?

Call the THCF 800 number and ask them.

It is true that the dr can recommend for anything they feel like.

The question is how much protection if offered by the dr note.

Looks like there will be variations in what a court will accept and not accept.
The law is written so that more than the list of conditions, in the law, are able to be covered, yet not be able to get licensed for.

That would give you some protection, yet not a full license.

That's my understanding for the moment.

Anyway .. THCF: 1-800-723-0188

Talked to my doc today and got a "I think they're not allowing us to prescribe untill the first of the year" reply and he thought "only for those with cancer".I asked him to educate himself if not for me then for others, seems like i have to do more tests before he'll even consider it. I gave him hell for 30 minutes and told him to go to the medicannabis web site to get his facts straight. By the time i left he said maybe he would change his mind in a few weeks. Hell my parole officer had no clue that the mmj prop even passed! LOL! I see it's not gonna be easy.

90 percent of docs voted yes, but won't write recs, don't know the law because they didn't spend 20 minutes to fucking read it. They know nothing about pot and they had 3 weeks to read a few hours before dec 4. I think they fucking call it staying current. My wife called the health department, they knew nothing! not near as much as me because i read for 30 minutes. they said its not ready yet and there is nothing they can do. never said your supposed to download (or they could have!) papers for your doc and notary to sign, and that is your license. yep, great law, useless, no one can fucking read, no one cares, and we're all exposing the hell out of ourselves, breaking the ultimate rule if you grow. yep, great law. how many years until we can benifit by it? not counting the ones who will be in jail for putting a sign on them that says "i use and grow pot come get me"
